These are the dead same make/capacity as our Concorde and are top quality batteries, from what I gather ours are original(March 2005) so just shows the quality of them.

Are you going the Lithium route Ken?

No Paul, my charger is geared up for Gel, and they have never let me down, so decided to stay same. I ordered replacements last November, as we were hoping to winter abroad and assumed the Deta's to be original Concorde fitted. The Exide replacements had to be manufactured, only arrived last week. Exide took over Deta I've been told, the replacements seem a bit lighter in weight.

If the Exides are half as good as the Deta's you are selling then you have nothing to worry about Ken.

They are already swopped. I assumed rightly or wrongly, that they'd had a good innings. It wasn't until they were disconnected that the terminal voltage on each battery could be established. Thought they may be of use to somebody before I weighed them in.

I had a pair of the huge batteries and 4 standard car size ones laying around for months. eventually weighed them in for scrap and got just over £80. 50p a kg if I recall

Recently at a scrappie's I only got £12.00 for a type 019 Bosch Silver S5 starter battery. It was a big heavy bu@@er too. :(

but I don't have the ability to keep these and the new exides all charged up.
Can you not do fortnight or month about Ken? They should hold their charge for several months, provided they are not stored on a cold concrete floor.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Not practical Jock as the battery bank is under a floored area and the garage has to be emptied to get them in/out. The charger on the van is 25A so the little car battery charger would struggle to charge them as a 'bank'. I could of course, charge them individually periodically, with the small portable charger, but for what?

Had hoped somebody on here might have a use for them. Will give them a try on the Concorde forum as many of the Charisma and Concertos are fitted with the same batteries.

I’m astounded that with all the posts regarding batteries on this forum, often from people with shitty old batteries that need replacing, that no one takes a flyer with these, you could run your house lights off these, put a small solar panel on your roof! Now, there’s an idea!

A question I’ll ask, does anyone know if this type of battery can be used in place of a deep cycle battery for say starting a tractor digger etc?

I was thinking on changing my 2 batteries this year as they are dropping to 12.2v after overnight use but you are a bit far from Scotlandshire. :(

Im sure they'd be ok for that Simon - its a big cold cranking amperage usually needed to start diesel engines, but as the Deta's are 140A Im sure they'd turn your dumper.

i found i was regularly hurting my back moving the big batteries. they are triple the size and weight of a more usual leisure battery. so they had to go. i had offered them on here for next to nothing but that was a waste of time. 8 months later they went for scrap
