pressure washed the roof and washed and waxed the sides (Simoniz wash n wax, with a brush on a pole) but now its dry the black streaks remain. What's the least elbow grease method of getting these off.
I've tried booking a valet but they are all fully booked til May.. not surprising really. Every man and his dog is getting the van out of winter storage this month.

I find showroom shine / grease lightening works a treat. You can buy it in halfords.

Black streak remover from Aldi spray on light brush leave for 5 minutes then wash as normal. I would only use a pressure washer as a rinsing device not closer than 18" at least away on the coachbuilt parts of the body and roof or it could be a nice clean shiny leaky motorhome!!!

I have a white van but don’t get black streaks.....I fitted Fiamma self adhesive gutter just below the roofline which takes all run off to the corners.

Guess who has washing the van down on today's list. usually we start it together, then 10 minutes or so in john gets a phone call which he manages to stretch out till i am almost finished :( I want to have a good do inside too have got myself a steam cleaner. am going to give it a go where there is a loo blue stain, and possibly on the cooker top too but am scared I mess up the jets. Cooker well used and could really do with a replacement top will need to look into it.

I find Autoglym super resin polish really good at lifting off black streaks, I know it's a polish not a wax but I think it adds protection as well, there are proprietary cleaners but they seem to remove any wax or protection at the same time.

I use white spirit then washwax.

Sent my old dear round to Aldi today and now I have the black streak remover on my desk :D
Cheers all, will try the stuff out later once I've stuffed my face this evening.

I was given some dry wash to try. It wipes off the black streaks instantly. I was unsure about Dry Wash scratching but it did not seem to at all.
Perhaps if the price comes down I will buy more.

I have some dry wash but the van was wet before I got a chance to try it

Don't tell John but we had a really persistant one, had just given inside of the van agood do and happened to have a sponge soaked in mild washing soda as I went past:whistle: think it needs waxing now.

We always use Elbow Grease, only £1 or less a bottle shifts black streaks easily and great for cleaning kitchen and bathroom.

The best product I have found so far for stubborn black streaks is the Caravan and Motorhome Cleaner / Black Streak Remover by Chemicals Direct . Using a hand pump spray with high concentration (10:1) it is very effective at removing streaks and is a good shampoo at a lower concentrations (150:1). I found it on eBay, not sure if available elsewhere. Hope you manage to get rid of those streaks.

Just bought some of the Williams waterless cleaner. Its very good, shifts everything from all materials and leaves it protected. Very handy when away on sites with no water on the pitch.
