I've been having a sort out and as our Romy (RIP) had Cushings disease I've still got some of her meds left - they're Vetoryl 30mg tablets, 31 days I think, so if anyone wants them FOC let me know - they expire in October 2022 so might as well go to someone who can make use of them rather than end up in landfill!

Can they be taken in place of viagra. Asking for a friend 😇
I suppose you could but they'd give a different reaction to the one hoped for which could be a tad embarrassing!

Please don't send them to land fill. It's not a safe way to dispose of them. I think most if not all UK chemists will take them back and dispose of them safely for you.

Yes I know, I'm not sure what they do with them though ... shame to waste them.

If no one wants them drop them into a chemist next time you are passing?

Out of interest, what does a chemist then do with out of date tablets and medications..?

I’ve had a little investigation on this and its a grey area and can find little or nothing on it, I found an article in the USA and it only became illegal for chemists to dump medicines down the toilet in 2019 but is still widespread out there.. I could find nothing for the uk except that they go to a waste company but still don’t say what happens to the medication….🤔

Our pharmacy puts them in the skip (in a securely fenced and locked compound) that their and the GP surgery sharps bins go into and my understanding is the skip contents are incinerated.

Re-dated for another 24 months, new box and back on the shelf.

SWMBO step monster is a highly recognised doctor in the Cayman Islands and has never thrown away medications, regardless of the date. Apparently it’s the modern way of thinking to put the date on.

Remember buying a bag of coal with a use before date on it.

Worlds gone mad 😂😀

A dog rescue place might be grateful for them. I know some take donations of medication.
This is what I did when I was left with medicine from my last dog.

Daughter used to be allowed to take an extra suitcase, for free on the aeroplane, of just out of date medicines and other surgical necessities on her voluntary trips abroad with World Veterinary Service.

Usually incinerated with medical waste.

Sending them to landfill can allow them to escape into the wild. birds or other animals eating them, then the drug is out there working it's way up the food chain.
flushing them down the toilet puts the drugs into the water ways. Again this leads to them being taken up the food chain.

The rescue group we support would be delighted to have them please. We raise funds for vet bills for dogs in rescue and any medications we can pass on really do make a difference Minxy

Hi Minxy If no one has a use for them then can I suggest contacting Worldwide Veterinary Service, https://wvs.org.uk/ Our Stanley had Cushings too and they were exceedingly grateful for his remaining Vetoryl. Just go to the Donate page and there is a link for donating medicine.
