Since 2015, still learning
This year for our annual August holiday my MBH (much better half) would like us to travel across to the adjacent Isle to focus our stay in the Cotswolds area. We have stayed a couple of nights in Cirencester and liked it a lot but didn’t get to see much due to the restrictions placed on us by our mobility challenged dog. Now we have a dog cart so can go out and about more. We still have a CaMC membership and the facilities are nice to have every so often but very happy to go wild or park for a night or CL. We have sufficient solar to keep us going but only 1 toilet cassette.

thanks for your suggestions,
Cush

C&CC run a THS at Boughton on the Water in August. Gets rather tourist heavy but worth a visit, you can get a bus the Morton in the Marsh.

Bourton on the Water has dedicated Motorhome parking (Station road Coach and car park), you could , and hopefully still can , overnight there (payed for) It is 5 mins from the village that has lots to see and is very nice.
Also The Bourton Rovers football club (GL542DT) which is a short walk into the Village did operate a Cl campsite and hopefully still do.

Burford is a lovely village-moho spaces in car park but approach road narrowish. Andrews Field CL (near Eckington -which is so lovely) basic site with water and black waste dump great riverside field very quiet.

Thought about staying at Adam whatsit with the grandkids then I saw the price.

Moreton on Marsh is a wonderful site with a short walk into a wonderful village with lovely tea rooms, there are pubs as well that do great sunday roasts.

Cotswold Airport, ex Kemble Airfield.

Multiple occupancy, just park out-of-the-way. I have done it a couple of times, but a few years ago.
I doubt you could do that now. I couldn't stay overnight even during a 2-day event there at which I was trading, pre-pandemic, and Cotswold Airport tightened up it's rules etc during 2020 when influxes of people started accessing the site via unofficial entry points etc to watch the airliners arriving for storage/disposal. They have CCTV on the gates and have shifted their parking etc since the advent of eating outside meant the space in front of AV8 is no longer available for parking, and a large area behind the control tower now has the 'pan' and the ex-BA 747.
It is, however, well worth visiting if you're touring the Cotswolds and at all interested in aviation. the AV8 restaurant is good, you can go on board (ticketed) their 747, and there are usually aircraft in and out.

Lived in the Cotswolds all my life beautiful place, live just outside Winchcombe right by the railway that goes to Broadway, have been to most of these sites, our favourite is probably Cirencester as very dog friendly, little micro brewery just by the site, Broadway is a must so is Morton in the marsh, the only problem is they are very popular so booking may be difficult .

Moreton in the Marsh is an excellent site and within easy walking distance of the town. Good bus service from town centre to rest of surrounding area and plenty of eating places from nice Cafes to lovely restaurants. The site is well run and facilities are excellent.

Last time I went to AV8 you couldn’t use the entrance on the Malmsbury Road you had to go via the Aggy Collwge Road.

A few years back mind.

Are you anywhere near the reclamation yard by the bridge?

I live on the outskirts of bourton on the water, my son lives in moreton, so I can honestly say that all the above comments are spot on, re moreton, there's a co-op one end of the village, an Aldi tother end, and a small Tesco in the middle, also there's a lovely walk across the fields to Batsford arberitum, the walk starts from the site, lovely food there and a garden centre. Bourton is of course lovely but during the summer it's heaving, some days you can barely see the river for people on the green, this is mainly in the school holidays though. 🐝

Malmesbury is almost in the Cotswolds. 2 hours free parking in the Station Yard and the road beside it. There's a choice of slope or steps up to the beautiful Abbey - lots of interesting history there including Elmer the flying monk and the first person to be killed by a tiger in England - Hannah Twinnoy. The Old Bell is a grand old hotel for tea, just in the process of being done up by new Texan owners. The Birdcage does excellent Italian food and takeaway pizzas. There is a CAMC CL site a couple of miles away in Lea.

Chipping Norton ccc, bus stop outside and Clarksons farm shop next door 👍

Denfurlong Farm campsite is about 8 miles from Cirencester on the Stow road. Big field, usu quiet midweek with showers & wash-up facilities.

Very nice site near the village of Charlbury. Cotswolds View. On a farm but good washrooms and hot wash up. Walks straight into woodland. Children's playpark and a superb cafe called The Old Shed. NOT commercial. Comfortable. Good shops in pretty Charlbury Village within pleasant walking distance. Prices reasonable but naturally not rock bottom. Depends what you like.

Bridge House Campsite, Lechlade. Next the Riverside Park (Thames) easy walk across a field to the bridge and decent facilities in the small town.

Wysdom Touring Park behind the Travelodge at the top of the hill at Burford. Great site, no shower but toilets, water, drainage and an easy 5 min stroll into Burford. Bit of a hike back up the high street hill but plenty of benches on the way up for a breather. Great staff and such a great spot for easy access into the village.
