Having just purchased a new Roller Team 685, I need to get it to how I want it to be, so thought the information may be of use to others when working out how much extra. I knew pretty much of all of this was going to cost me and took it into consideration.

Alarm and tracker (Tracker required as valued over £50K and 3 years subscription) £1400
Gasit system (11kg and 6Kg with bullfinch) £445
Extra locks on habitation and garage doors £115
Remis blinds £740
TV Aerial £70
(Already had a TV but purchasing a second hand one for bedroom) £30
An extra 175 watts of solar, Mppt and B2B which are lithium ready £490
110 ah of gel battery (exactly same as came with van) to double battery bank £175
Inverter £109

Total of £3,574.

We are going to try without an awning (£600) as we dont tend to use one and will upgrade to Lithium when the price is better.
I still have to upweight it which will be £150 or so, and wondering about putting on air suspension before that (£500 ish)
We need to get a Superking size duvet and bedding and some throws but the Mrs hasnt decided upon colour yet (£100) , and we will be replacing carpets (£50)

I think we have everything else.

But holidays are free after all of that, oh I forgot...

£120 of fuel per tank as it does a huge 24 miles to a gallon

£10 a night on a very cheap site during the week and no where near the weekends

Oh tools to fix the van as something will break every time you take it out (i class this as daily maintenance) dewalt £649 for lots of them (5)

Le Creuset kettle £79

Hammer
Pegs
Hammock
Outside chairs
Outside table
Fiamma tripod table leg to take inside tadle outside
Cadac or weber bbq
Pizza stone
Generator
Van clothes and towels

self levelling system and that should be about all
solar charging .

Short and long hook up leads
Short and long hose pipes

For clarity, I have everything I need including the yellow vests, tool kits, cadacs, sheepskins, weighing machine, electric air pump, engine battery starter, drone, chairs, tables, etc (I dont have the breathalyser)

Its just to get the van up to the standard of the previous one when buying from brand new and the extra money needed beyond buying the van

All your really need is a motorhome, dreams and a good co pilot

But being on this group your never alone 👍🏽 so you can ditch the Co pilot

I paid £1500 for a thatcham cat 1 alarm and a cat 6tracker with lifetime subscription

Twin Lense rear camera, wouldn't be without it.
We Removed TV's use 17" laptop with 4K Amazon firestick, hooked up to mobile phone as a hot spot, or get a data sim Mi-Fi (for 6/8 devices) with decent Ariel. Sat Dishes & TV Ariel's days are well gone for us.

Next van delete 4.5 Mtr £1150 (dealer fitted) Fiama Omnistore awning, hardly use it, would use a pop up tent instead for storing chairs & bikes in damp weather, secure with Strikeback Growler extended alarm accessory loop around bikes, BBQ & tent access zip.
Fit a Patriot Disklok padlock to secure rear facing drivers seat, best easiest security mod before the usual others IMHO.

I posted this on another thread but thought it might be useful to you ... no it's NOT about hosepipes! :giggle:

Due to the value of our MH we had to have a tracker fitted for insurance although an alarm wasn't required but we got it thrown in as part of the purchase deal (FOC), so were happy with it:
  • Tracker: SmarTrack Protector Pro Global TQA453 - it cost £199 to have fitted at our home and £399 for a lifetime subscription.
  • Alarm: Autowatch 695 (canbus) - we've had versions of this previously on other MHs/campers and never had any issues with them so more than happy to have one on our Carthago; would probably cost about £400-£450 fitted.
One thing to watch with trackers is the cost of the subscription service for the monitoring, some are expensive and can really add up to quite a bit of dosh, this is why we plumped for a lifetime subscription rather than paying a yearly fee.
We've had the Autowatch alarm on a few MHs/campers and never had an issue with it.

I have a contingency of £5k for upgrades when the new van arrives 1st March.....inshallah.
Tow bar, alarm, telly, xtra solar, xtra leisure battery blah blah.

I used to find it frustrating when i arrive at a perfectly level site that my ramps were not needed so i have now bought another set so if the site is level i can use all 4 ramps.
Not daft me you know.

Having that special air in your tyres, think you never get stuck again. Haha

Small plastic receptical approx the size of a fifty pence piece in the shape of a tea bag. Supposed to be used for holding spent tea bags. We used it to angle the draining board into the sink.
A must have according to the Mrs available at Glossop caravans .
True.

Whatever is added to your MH, don’t forget to deduct the extra weight from your payload. Some MHs have very little payload to start with.

you should have done what i do, i bought a spade so if the site is perfectly flat, i can dig holes to put the levellers in - there are several benefits,

1 - it ensures the moho is level on the perfectly flat site
2 - it gives us somewhere to store the levellers when on site, freeing up valuable locker space
3 - it reduces the payload of the moho on site by removing the levellers and the spade
4 - it allows other motorhomers to utilise the holes i dig so they can obtain the same benefits.

Top Tip - if you dig holes on a site that isnt perfectly flat, you may need to carry additional levellers especially if you dig the leveller holes at the lowest part of the pitch

Worth looking at changing insurers, Comfort only require either an Alarm or Tracker over 50k & just a Tracker over 75k.

Extra locks on habitation and garage doors £115
Just tells the scrots there is something worth nicking.

Inverter £109
If fitting an inverter worth spending a bit more and fitting a decent one.

We are going to try without an awning (£600) as we dont tend to use one.
Tried that on our last van but when you need one you really need it. Put one on this van don't use it a lot but wouldn't be without it.

wondering about putting on air suspension before that (£500 ish)
Do the job properly fit full air, having fitted full air to our van I would never have a van without it now.

I've lost count but the boss could tell me to the penny what we have spent on our van I know it's the wrong side of 10K.

Just tells the scrots there is something worth nicking. Or they advise the little darlings they would be better off next door

Inverter £109
If fitting an inverter worth spending a bit more and fitting a decent one. Mine will only ever be used to charge E bikes in our presence

Tried that on our last van but when you need one you really need it. Put one on this van don't use it a lot but wouldn't be without it. We have found trees to be useful, but I know what you mean, its just the neighbours can offer us a drink and some shade should it be super hot and we can add one should we change our mind

Do the job properly fit full air, having fitted full air to our van I would never have a van without it now. Noted that the price of that didnt appear as an option !!! About the same as I have already spent out
