I've picked up some tips from a friend with regards to Cornwall. Bearing in mind we are nearly 8m, we need a decent base for a few nights on perhaps two sites and don't intend to use the Moho to get to places of interest.

Treverven Touring Park was suggested as it's close to South West Path, Pedn Vounder and a bus within 15min walk for other areas inc St Micheal's Mount, maybe three nights. Then the Parkdean Ruder Campsite for Croyde and Woolacombe for another couple of nights. We'd probably do a one-night (pub?) stop between North London and Cornwall and similar on the way back. We can leave AM of the 23rd and need to be back PM on the 1st Oct.

Looking for any tips really on stopovers along the way, and other ideas for sites to stay at in those areas. We will be staying in Loe at another time so will avoid that area for now. Not fussed if CL/CS Club or private. EHU is useful but will forego in lieu of a spectacular location. We can walk and cycle at a decent pace so would be looking to park up and explore as much as we can in the short timeframe we have...

Thanks in advance for tips and suggestions from knowledgable Funsters (y)

Oops! Not that it matters I don't think but dates are 17th to 24th.

Treverven booked (y) so maybe now heading Woolacombe, Croyde way heading back home...?

For Woolacombe, there's a really nice site next door in Morthoe, 'Damage Barton site', be aware there's a very steep hill between the two locations, but well worth it in my opinion.

We are regulars at Damage Barton as we have family in Ilfracombe, love and here at moment for a weekend…..we are 7.5m and tow a little Fiat Abarth, no issues, just take your time for the final mile p, but has plenty of passing places.

Nice campsite at the lost gardens of heligan , right next to entrance to the gardens well worth a visit , also tarmac cycle track to Mevagissey about 1 and half miles bit up and down . Suggest you bring food supplies as nearest proper shops 7 miles away

Damage Barton, yes have heard of that on these very forums but was struggling to remember, thanks.

We will investigate these further....

Opps! Looks like the caravan on the right has been drinking too much :giggle:

Carnon Downs C&MC, cycle route adjacent and bus stop outside gate with services to Truro and Falmouth. No tiny lanes to negotiate to get there either.

There’s quite a few rallies on with the big two that time of year. Might be worth a lookie see

For Damage Barton, where is the best place to pitch up? Seems to be top and lower fields, we are in both Clubs (if that matters).

Thx

Given it's location it can be a very windy site with most pitches having very little protection from the prevailing south westerlies \ westerlies.
The layout of the pitches mean the majority of these are side on to the wind.
To get some protection the best pitches are those in the row to the left after the reception block.
They are end on to the wind and have some protection provided by the hedge behind them.

This is the reception block and the start of the pitches I'm talking about.

The road down in to Woolacombe Bay. This is the "flatter" part! Parts of it are 20% (or 1 in 5 in old money).

There are taxi numbers in the information area and would suggest you get one of those down to Woolacombe if heading down to there. Parking can be troublesome.

We always go towards the top and politely request an fully serviced pitch if possible (I’d estimate 60-70% only have EHU close by and no tap/waste drain) we’ve always been successful on our request. We also like the west side pitches just down from the lower shower block, gets the sun all day there and also have some serviced pitches in that location.
