As title,
Not wanting another stand alone satnav I have decided to give copilot a try via my phone, however when it comes to entering the vehicle dimensions I am unable to alter the width, length and height not a problem. The dimension criteria states that it is for a caravan and no mention of motorhomes so I can only assume that the max width of the dark side is 8'4" and I am wanting to input 8'11", A class van.
All advice appreciated except for telling me to buy a caravan

What copilot software have you subscribed to?

I have not subscribed yet but it is via Trimble, whoever/whatever that is.

I believe you have to pay for the caravan version to be able to enter custom dimensions.

I bought a life time licence years ago for multi drop work. Has served me well but I have heard people buy the truck one and say it’s not very good.
all mapping software is only as good as the map data.
I have a few apps I use along side a garmin 770, there’s a road closure just at the bottom of the lane I live on and none of them not even google maps routed around the closure, Google showed it as road works but still sent the route through it. The best for road closure I have found is Tomtom amigo, doesn’t do sizes though. Or try an app called navigator, you have a free version or a paid for truck version, graphics are a bit chunky but it works well.

Just go to settings, vehicle routing profiles and create a custom profile. Choose caravan and in the dimensions put your motorhome measurements in. Go back and chose your other options and save.

If you can’t do the above perhaps you don’t have the caravan / motorhome version.

Many thanks for the replies, much appreciated. I haven't paid anything yet until I can enter the dimensions of my van.
Loath to pay and then find out that I can't enter the dimensions I need but still unable to change the width, thanks again.

We use the paid for CoPilot for Caravans/motorhomes, we have been able to enter different profiles which we save and choose which one to use. We run it on a 10in Samsung Galaxy tablet which we have used extensively in Europe. Highly recommend!

That aspect of it is quite good - I have several profiles according to how I want the route to go. It has accepted my dimensions, though sometimes it is a bit ambitious. All in the paid version. What I will say though is that it used to be brilliant, with much more flexibility - you could set what you thought your average speeds would be in, for example, towns, minor roads, major ones, autoroutes etc, However the clever people who wanted to offer something useful were bought out by Trimble, who are big in navigation, but are more concerned with profits than being useful.

I think there are probably better apps these days.

As above we use CoPilot caravan version and have our size and weight in, sometimes I think having the weight at over 3500kg brings up more problems that it solves though as it will try to take you down a unclassified route to keep off one that has a 3500kg weight limit even though it is OK to use for access.

What motorhome have you got that is 8 foot 11?
That's nearly 3 metres wide. Which is wider than an artic truck

I have a lifetime licence for copilot caravan, you won't be able to put your dimensions into copilot gps until you pay the subscription. I've found it reliable but be aware if you use search four sites navigate to function it will use the default motorhome dimensions which is okay, you can change the default settings just don't rename it when you save it. You can also set up road preferences if you wish.

Hubby (Manic) has CoPilot on his phone, I have tried it but for some reason can’t get on with it.
I now have Map.me which I find excellent and Hubby uses it more now too!

I had a barney with CoPilot several years ago, when they removed this facility from the standard app. Their argument was that their route finding capability was much better served by you also buying their live traffic add-on.

I disagreed, told them they were crooks, and to eff off and tried every other GPS route finding app. Must have tried about ten.

Anyway, although a couple of the lorry apps had some height, with, length functionality, they didn't quite cut it. Mrs DDJC told me to stop being an arse and to get the Caravan/Motorhome version of Co-Pilot.

As usual, she was right. It is brilliant. You can fix moho dimensions, and choose what max speeds you expect to do on the different types of roads, but most importantly, it includes the traffic subscription.

Slightly off-topic, but if you have an android phone, download the google rewards app. You answer short surveys in exchange for google play credit. you can pay for your co-pilot subscription using this credit! I've had it free for two years now(y)
The only catch is you cannot pay part credit part cash, so you have to have enough google play balance to cover the whole subscription.
