We still have a French Propane cylinder the gas locker of our French bought but now UK registered van - all works perfectly but that bottle is not going to last forever so we have bought a UK Calorgas one to replace it. We knew we'd have to put a UK POL connection on too. So I bought a new pigtail with a non return valve off Amazon. So connected it all up today but after a short initial hiss no gas was getting though. Put back the original bottle and hose - all worked fine again. Definitely gas in the new bottle too.
The old French hose has a green reset button on it that I'd need to press sometimes when turning on the gas after a while.
The new UK hose doesn’t. Neither does the bulkhead mounted regulator. What have I done wrong here ?
The photo shows the new hose and bottle connected with the original French hose in the foreground

Nothing, the new hose should be straight through no reason for it not to work. Take it off and have a look at it.

One point, with the hose without the anti-rupture valve you shouldn't drive with the gas on.

Make sure the new hose can be blown through. Make sure the gas bottle actually releases gas when you turn the valve. (Don't check this whilst it is actually installed in your van!)

Thanks. Err, sorry to be dim but which hose has an anti rupture valve ?
The new gas bottle definitely released gas when turned on outside the van. Also the new pig tail pipe has a free flow of air in the correct direction (but not the other way).
If I'd turned on the gas bottle valve too quickly into a system that hadn’t had gas in it for a while could that have caused a valve to block the flow ?
I’ll try it again over the weekend.

Seems odd. There's not really much to go wrong.

You said gas flows from the bottle when the tap is opened!
Now disconnect the pigtail from the regulator and see if gas still flows.
Extremely unlikely but the one way valve may be at fault and not letting gas through when it should..... IE. The valves been installed backwards by mistake.

The anti rupture valve is the bit with the green button 👍

The one green button is the anti-rupture hose, you press the button to reset the valve.
I've not seen a gas hose with a none return valve before that maybe the problem.

You should be able to get an adaptor to fit your original hose, it looks the same as UK butane 21.8mm connection.

Have you disconnected the new hose from the regulator and turned the gas on to make sure there is free flow through the hose From the Calor bottle.
If there is then I cannot think why the gas shouldn’t work.

Thanks for your replies. This is the new hose' description off Amazon....

...so it does mention a non-return/excess flow valve. Should I be looking for one that doesn’t have one ???
I did originally order an adapter to fit onto the original French hose (not from Amazon) but that was 10 days ago and it still hasn’t arrived yet :(
Maybe if I turn the bottle valve on slowly it may not trigger the valve to cut off ???
Clutching at straws here I know ....
