Connecting a 12v tyre inflator

I connect my 12v tyre pump from the ancillary 12v supply point in the X250 Fiat engine bay. The neg lead goes to the engine block. Refer to your Fiat handbook :p
 
Presumably both batteries share a common earth? If so, then that will work.
 
Don't expect it work for long Dave, you're pushing 24v into the inflator.
Those batteries are connected in series... 24v.
Pos of 1 battery should be connected to Pos of 2 battery and the same with negs for parallel.

That's what I thought but didn't want to show my ignorance.
But why would it be like that on a motorhome?
