Hi all, we have an early morning crossing to France tomorrow and heard on news last night the traffic and delays on route are dreadful with closure of M20 and ‘Operation Brock’ in place. We will be heading east from M25. Has any one done this in last few days? How bad is it please?

The M20 is now a lorry park and there are diversions in place. The M2 coastbound also had 15 miles of queues yesterday so leave plenty of time for your journey.

As per reply above, there are diversions in place, but do leave plenty of time. We live very close to the M2 and M20, and the area has been very congested for the lorries this week with Op Brock, but they do (try and) keep the freight traffic and the cars and motorhomes etc separate, with the non-freight traffic using the A20 as a diversion route (just follow signs) while the freight traffic stays on the M20.

We've just crossed over the M2 at Brenley Corner and there is queing traffic as they are turning lorries back to the M20 to join the HGV queue.

We did this yesterday. Maybe too late for you but A2 then got onto a small road and dropped down to m20 one junction above tunnel. Tunnel quiet and got train 3hrs early.

B0268 to Stanford. The road isn’t big, especially the start but scenic and saved us hours.

Hi, I’ve come across some of your posts regarding the EU Pet Passports. I believe we are in the same situation as yourself. I have 2 dogs with EU Pet Passports issued in GB prior to 2021. Their 3 yr rabies vaccinations are due to be boostered prior to May 7th. Did you find a vet in France who was willing to give the 3 yrs rabies and document it in your EU Pet Passport issued from the GB?
Thanks so much for your advice!

Hi Melissa
Our passport was a ‘French issued EU pet passport’ issued in 2019, not GB. There would be no point in having the rabies vaccination documented into the GB passport as it’s not valid to get into Europe, even if administered by a French vet, doubt a French vet would write anything into GB passport either. Apologies if my posts were not clear. I’m no expert but this is my current understanding.

Thank you for that clarification. I actually came across a lot more posts from Maz regarding this issue and I believe I now understand it. What we need to do is go across to France prior to our current rabies vaccine expiry date in May and have a French vet issue new EU France Pet passports and also administer the 3 yrs rabies vaccine and document this in their new passports? We should then have no trouble going to and from the UK for 3 yrs and with no need for the AHC (unless things change again of course!). The only issue some people seem to have had is needing a French address and needing the dogs to have been in France for 3 months. Do you know particular vets in France who are issuing the passports and 3yr vaccines without any hassle? Thanks so much for your continued help!! 😎

That’s correct, and there is another post, by Maz where we listed the vets we have used. The list will not be 100% now as some vets are being more “picky” about the rules.

The sooner the better, and it may take a few vet drop ins to find one who agrees to it, or try a different EU country.

Yes I’m sure you are correct, sorry about that - I am brand new to this site and am trying to navigate my way through using it properly. If I could figure out how to join a vet thread I would.

Whats that supposed to mean?

People are asking for help with a potential issue and whether you live in the South East or not is neither here nor there.

If they are ill informed as you say then just inform them:rolleyes:

Just search

European Vets that have issued EU Pet Passports to Brits since Brexit

Sorry I’m not sure how to create a link to another thread but it will be there if you search it (just checked 👍🏻). Good luck.

I was suggesting that the information is not being conveyed over the the national news where as we hear about as often as covid. I guess now someone will say its of no interest to the whole country, but it will be if it starts to effect your shopping habits.
