Comfortmatic & cold feet - solved!

Cut a 63mm before inserting a standard vent. I then fitted the ducting adapter, once assembled I secured it with 4 small self tapers. I then cut the adapter in half to create a deflector. Good airflow across the whole food well, happy days

I’ve extended the drivers side duct on my last 3 Ducatos , the first one I did was a comformatic , the last two aren’t.
The problem comes from the vans being designed as LHD.
The heater duct in RHD vans is terminated up behind the panels in front of the drivers legs .
This is great for heating up the fuse panel and various mechanical bits and bobs up there
But not so great for the drivers feet.
Get yourself some foil duct from eBay
It makes a massive difference.

I posted some time ago that I couldn't get my feet warm in winter when driving our 2016 Fiat Ducato X290, with comfortmatic gearbox. Passenger side was fine, just the driver's side that wouldn't get warm.

Previous 2010 Ducato X250, with manual gearbox, lovely toasty warm feet, therefore assumed there was a problem with the new van.

So asked local Fiat dealer to investigate - response, "There's nothing wrong". I said there must be!

The technician said, "well there is a large plastic footrest on the Comfortmatic which may be directing the warm air away - do you want me to try removing it?"

Upshot, now have toasty feet when driving and I can stretch my left leg out 'properly' too!

So anybody with cold feet on a comfortmatic, check out the large plastic footrest, which can be removed (and replaced if necessary).

Have you got a secret mod to the mod?

I've had this on my 'to do' for literally years but never quite got over the impression that it's at least a half day job to disassemble, get access & fabricate & restore....

It’s not that difficult to sort out (more contortionist ability required in an A class) I over complicated my adaptation. there are much easier ways shown on here.
Must say though the difference is amazing ,toasty feet in the winter and if we have the AC on in the summer too cold to drive in sandals! Happy feet ,happy me

There is also a Fiat kit available to do the job, must look at mine, having had LHD for 10 years not had the problem before.

Been looking for that without success, don't suppose you have more info, like what they actually call it - assuming the part number is too much to hope for!

Had a word with my friend, Fiat no longer sell it (according to Simon at AM) and it only half did the job.

We have a 2017 Ducato with comfortmatic and there was a thread about this some years ago when Fiat brought out a modification for this problem. We've had it done but not noticed much difference but I will have another look as I like the idea of more legroom, not so concerned about the heat as we don't use the van in the winter.

Patent it and sell it to Fiat!

Once you get access to the blower outlet it’s quite easy to push a corrugated plastic pipe up and secure it behind the foot rest.

Bit late to this thread but my solution was to design and print my own version of the missing ducts, but given the time this took and the cost in materials not sure i would do it again laugh.

Well, your solution is lot neater and more marketable than my "Heath Robinson, Larry the lash offering ", but mine took 10mins, and cost "diddly squat" and is very warm on my long suffering tootsies.

It was some 25mm flexi concertina hose left over when one our hammer pumps gave up the ghost. Similar to this, 25mm 1" Pond Hose Flexible Pipe Fish Tank Pump Filter Water Feature HosesUK | eBay UK https://share.google/M7A0T1B8JnW81defO
