Hi All,

I wanted a combined insurance and breakdown cover policy so I tried to get a quote from Comfort but have just been told that they can't/won't insurance it because the MoHo have six seats.

Has anyone experience of this and are there any recommendations?

Thanks.

Have you got six seat belts,If you only have four then you should insure for 4 .

Ask comfort if you can remove 2 belts completely will they insure it then

safeguard used to insure my van with 6 seat belts now NFU do too

Carol Nash insure mine 6 belts ?

Is your uncertainty around the number of belts that you have? Or whether, in fact, Carole Nash are providing you with cover for your 6 belts?

Nope, just trying to understand whether you were making a statement that would help the OP or whether you were expressing doubt about your own cover.

I hope that’s clearer.

Ian
I was obviously trying to help the OP. I was inputting into the post. You where just trying to put in a none helpful comment obviously wanting to look clever. End of yawn goodnight could you please check my spelling and mark accordingly

@mfw I actually looked for a six berth and six travelling seats MoHo for a long time as I need at least five most of the time.
@scotzsue It's an Japanese import and it's registered as a motorcaravan.

Just called Adrian Flux and they quoted me over £500. I have now asked for a quote from NFU.

Maybe it's the jap import that's the problem, did you ask them. Few of my mates bought them years ago and had problems insuring them. Carol Nash defo worth a call they beat my flux quote last year.

P/S I don't worky for carrrolll nashhh ???

I think the main issue with six seats is not with the Insurance, but more the breakdown/recovery side as many recovery trucks are not able to carry six passengers.

They do not usually carry more than two here. They just leave all the others in the motor home on the recovery truck.

@Barbie and Ken thaks for that. Not sure why then. Maybe it has recently changed? Anyway Staveley Head has been great and I am now insured.

A thought as to why you might have had problems ... are any of the belted seats side-facing?

I found Comfort inflexible and disinterested in my business.....

NFU ......... an absolute pleasure
When i phoned NFU they were only renewing existing polices and not taking on new ones.

Probably because it's an import.

We had the same problem Sue and NFU wouldn't quote on our MoHo or the Airstream (just last week). They did say however that if we were to change our contents & home insurance policy over to NFU first then they would give us a quote.

I'm not sure if that's fair but I won't be approaching the NFU mob again. I think 'mob' is an appropriate word to use in this instance!

I've heard the NFU are a good company to deal with. See what they offer for the other insurances.

It IS a fully old life innit? I think one's personal perception of an insurer is based on whether or not they meet/solve your needs at the time. For me, nearly all the others had an issue of some sort or the other, then out of the blue along came NFU (recommendation by @Robert Clark amongst others) and all I can say is that my local branch were pragmatic and helpful ...... very approachable and more 'personal' (y) and they gave me exactly what I wanted :D
