Hi , everyone, how do you stop your hangers from coming off the rail have tried the elastic bands but they don't work very well and tried going slow over speed bumps but that doesn't work either ,so any ideas would be welcome.

Hi Jake got loads of these but same problem, these are great for holidays abroad as we all know there is never enough when you unpack at the hotel.

Never had coat hangers jump off but on one occasion when we went over a very humpy sleeping policeman a little too quickly, the rail with all the coat hangers on jumped off. lesson learned:rofl::rofl:

We have some heavy duty metal ones. Like wire coat hangers but made with thicker wire and much heavier. Never had one fall off the rail. :)

Make your own out of plywood or off cuts, it don’t take long. You can cut ¾ at a time with a jigsaw. Cut the hole for the rail to go through, and thread em on they ain’t coming off. Do the top button up on your shirts they will never come off. Wife criss crosses the straps on her dresses. I always have trouble getting her dress off. Oh !!! now that’s a different story😉😉

On my old van I put a corrugated pipe over the wardrobe rail. We don’t use coat hanger but stock room hangers they hold everything tight and have a lower centre of gravity. Having said that our wardrobe is so full of my wife’s clothes nothing much can move in there anyway.

I had exactly the same problem which I seemed to have solved by taking the hanger rail off and sliding a suitable length bicycle inner tube over it and then replacing it. The inner tube wrinkles slightly and helps grip the coat hangers and stops them sliding around. I've not lost a coat hanger in the last 9 years since I first did it. Cheap, cheerful and effective - simples!!

I have these first link I found just wrap around the rail it also stops them moving in transit especially if the wardrobe is not full . not my idea previous owners

If you used wire ones, could you bend them so they don’t come off? (I never hang anything, so not from experience!)

I was going to say a length of pristine foam pipe lagging, same effect!

We´ve always used foam pipe lagging, never found a coat hanger which didn´t fit snugly.(y)

Like others. SWMBO packs so much stuff in the wardrobe, even when we had the R-V! with 3. Nothing CAN fall off!. On a serious note the Corrugated cable loom sleeving works well. As did the foam pipe wrap?.

I used a strip of pipe lagging, just slip it over the rail, saying that I don't currently have a problem in my van so don't need it anymore. 🐝

I just fold stuff up and place it in a cupboard - simples (no hangers = no hangers coming off) 🙂

Impressed that you fold it, some people I know just stuff it in .................teenagers ::bigsmile:

If they are plastic and most of them are, dip the hook in very hot water for a couple of minutes and they will bend very easily to clip over the rail
Spongy

have used a bit of corrugated tubing in the past, j stuffs so much in it wouldn't dare come off, his stuff not mine i have 2 coathangers, everything else is in travelpacks, so easy.

Cliff bent the hangers so they have to be pulled off the rail - I HATE THAT!!! I can’t easily pull the hanger off - consequently his stuff gets left on the rail when we get home!

Mine is taken off the rail when we move off, laid on the bed and then hung up again at the next stop - a nause I know, but the only way I can make it work.

Tried lagging - hangers stay put but clothes come off!

Tried packing to full capacity - clothes came off, but I didn’t see them, so creased up by the time I came to wear them.

Disaster all round really. Should have known, as we used to have a caravan with an island bed and two back wall wardrobes - same thing happened!

Still, I wouldn’t give up my island bed - so I just live with it!

Hang everything on one hanger, it'll be that heavy there is no way it'll fall off:hugs:

Whether it be in the many caravans or the two motorhomes we’ve had, we’ve never had that problem.
Ever. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Maybe we take too many clothes with us......
