Hi

Has anyone had any dealings with Clearway Motorhomes based in Somerton ? Am looking at a van that they have for sale and would appreciate any comments either way.

thanks
Graham

I don’t know if they are any good but I thought I’d google the location as I didn’t know of any Motorhome sellers in Somerton but now that I see it’s just by the crossroads on the Fosse close to Lydford Cross Keys pub I know there’s been a motorhome seller there for many years. They used to just sell small older PVCs so I don’t know if they’ve just branched out or if it’s a new company. Mixed reviews but aren’t there always.

I can see why your asking as it’s a bit of a hike from Geordie land😳. Hope you find what your looking for 👍

I used to drive past them on my way to work in Midsomer Norton. They have been there for many years or at least there’s been a van dealer on that site for years. I had the option that the vans they had were a bit over priced so I bought mine from Somerset Motorhomes great company to deal with and excellent after sales.

Thanks for the info.

Yep I thought a bit pricey. Have got the price down to a more acceptable one so far.

It's a long way if you have any warranty work to be carried out. Have you not looked local?
Ings at Kendal, Tyne Valley at Burnopfield, Marquis at Birtley, Cleveland Motorhomes. I wouldn't bother Robsons at Wolsingham as they've nothing in and only playing with caravans. Good luck.

Been looking locally for a while. Nothings seems to hang around to get a chance to go to view.TVM stock has also been poor for a while.

Yep it’s a long way which is niggling me, even to view. Been told that can have any warranty work done locally at an approved workshop. If needed.

Still it’s a long way to go.

I've had the hassle of buying a long way from Durham. One dealer refused any warranty work outside his place and local dealers didn't want to know as I hadn't purchased it from them.
Be patient, something will come up as dealers are now getting stock back from repossessions and short term buyers during lockdown.

Have you thought about buying from a private seller? I'll be selling mine shortly. Bought from Tyne Valley Motorhomes and serviced every year since at them also.

Check out Spinney Motorhomes,at Cranage ,just south of Knutford. off the M6. They have a few vans but turn them over quickly, not that far from you. They have a good reputation. (y)

yep I thought about it but for my first van, and given the amount of money involved then it will be from a dealer. At least there is some legal comeback. Although Iknow will be more costly.

ideally something like the Pilote P710 or P716. We really like the front loung layout and fixed bed. The washroom is the compormise but it is still very useable.

the distance is about the main issue. As even to view it would be a 700 mile round trip. Now there is some doubt in my mind over this damn control knob thing and the dealer trying to tell me nothing wrong with it.
Not in any rush so may jsut pass on this and see what comes along.

you may be right with the market might be starting to turn.

thanks everyone for the advice and guidance. its greatly appreciated.

I think that given a number of factors, with this one I will pass and wait for something to come alaong that is a bit more local.

We bought our first 2 vans from dealers - warranty worth it weight in gold on first (saved us a couple of grand) and just little bits and bobs on second. Now feeling a bit more experienced and got the cash so will look at private happily. Agree with you for my first one would go to a local dealer

Nice!

You can always take out your own warranty, it doesn't have to be with the seller. Then if you have any problems you can sort locally. Just negotiate it off the asking price.
