We have just returned from a trip across La Manche and used Cite Europe outward and inward.
Many people on here bestow the benefits of a FREE parking area with facilities available at the nearby filling station and indeed give directions and advice to many wishing to use the permitted parking.
To travel to the filling station to dump waste water would take less than 5 minutes so can I ask why it seems so many people are quite prepared to just let their waste water run all over the carpark?
I know some are French but I have seen several UK registered vans this last couple of visits doing exactly that.
I am not aware that we have initiated a campaign to try and have overnight parking permanently banned for motorhomes at Cite Europe because of bad habits by some.
If you see any one displaying these habits I think we should mention to them that if they want to keep the facility then it would be wise to treat it with respect.
Failing that ask where they live so I can go round and dump my waste water on their drive!

Not sure I understand some folks concerns over a bit of waste water..
I live in a town in a rural area.. Roads and car parks get covered in all sorts from slurry to diesel.. A bit of washing up water is just not worth worrying about ( just my personal feeling you understand )
As for banning from Cite Europe, aint gonna happen because the French have the same opinion as me LOL!

was there Saturday evening see this happen plus peo[le spreading themselves out with tables chairs and sat dishes on tripods. See a couple of funster stickers but think they was hiding

Are you sure it was waste water? A lot of people dump what's left of their fresh water when going home to give more load capacity ?

We have been on cite Europe scores of times and never seen any type of water loosed out

I don’t agree with your sentiments.

However, there’s nothing to stop you tackling the ‘offenders’ yourself. Somehow I doubt that you did though. :D

We have seen the same at Cite Europe, but generally only small amounts of water.
Brits, French and others have been the culprits.
Jaws is correct of course, it’s only a bit of slightly dirty water, but it is the impression that counts and the stain marks can last for ages on the tarmac.
I have been guilty myself at the same location, a big puddle under the van. :Eeek:
In my defence, we had a faulty fresh tank dump valve that caused the substantial leak of nice clean, sweet smelling, Suffolk water. :D

Richard

As long as it’s not black water!
The French don’t care they take it as their god-given right to do exactly what they please, it is their country!
I feel if the French are happy to do something then why should we worry!

It`s back to the old "perception" issue. It does not look "nice", and some will whiff a bit. Being on French soil however, there is a different attitude to such happenings. I haven`t been to Europe since 2007/8, but prior to that we saw many similar issues on Aires, and stops where it appeared to be almost normal behaviour?.

Because the general public don't distinguish between grey and black water and can believe that the mh is leaking sewage.

I very strongly suspect that the "general public" doesn't give a flying fig about motorhomes, their owners or anything coming out of the bottom of them.

I very very strongly suspect that the "general public" believe motorhomers to be strange, sad people who go camping in fields rather than having a proper holiday in cut price hotels on the Costa Del Sol.

I suspect both comments are true but for different people.

If waste (grey) is so innofensive why are there so many threads on mhm about nasty odours from tanks?
It is inoffensive as it leaves the washbasin or sink and when it arrives in the tank. It remains so if discharged immediately. Store it warm and it's an ideal breeding ground for smell producing (but probably harmless) bacteria. Prevent tank odours by closing the drain only when it is in use.

A friend (ex-policeman) was fined €80 for "dribbling" on an aire in Spain.

His argument that it was a genuine mistake was greeted with no sympathy whatsoever.

I've witnessed the same dribbling" at Cite Europe and unless one has a faulty grey waste valve then there is absolutely no excuse especially as the OP points out that yards down the road there is a dump at the petrol station.. goodness let's not lose sight of the fact that it's simply good manners and hygiene.

Think it smells because it's in a confined space..It's only washing up water,,few suds and a slurp or two of mouthwash.Have been on many sites where they ask you to water the plants with it..BUSBY??

Excellent idea by Lazyboy but just one question, - Did you go over and advise the motorhomes in question what you are suggesting we all should do?

And what was their response? - was it waste water?

As some may have said already, people do dump their fresh water when nearing the end of their holidays and some to keep within their payload after they've stocked up on wine at that supermarket.

I’d had the van for less than a fortnightly. Brought van home and next weekend even though the small tank had been emptied that shower room stank. Can’t believe grey water is that innocuous.

Looks like a right dump to me...a place to avoid,so go on dribbling there as far as Im concerned, but it’s a foul thing to do in my opinion.
