As per pre Christmas routine we posted the cards for managements family in Brisbane including a calendar before the cut off date for Christmas delivery. The Callander took a month to get there but the cards took two months to arrive.
The Callander was sent recorded delivery and it was showing having left the uk on the 17th of December. We can. only assume something went wrong at there end.
In the past an engineer I know tried to send some tools via a courier to an address in Queensland. The customs at there end sent them back saying they couldn’t accept them into the country in case they were contaminated with oils. He re sent them via a different courier and they arrived at there end in ten days no questions asked.
They really struggle seem to struggle with every day things like post at there end.

Silly me I thought the laid back poms in Queensland were immune from covid. From what we were told they went into a flat spin when they had to isolate for a whole weekend. Maybe the posty was the only one isolating .
As for importing things. We took stuffed toys for the kids once and they were confiscated because we couldn’t prove what the stuffing was made of. Maybe we should have told them what the cards and Callander were made of.

Yes,the Aussie border control seem to be very protective of what's allowed or not into the land of Oz. The tv programme "Border Control" can be Very interesting. (y)

A really nice and friendly beagle came and sat in front of my wife when we landed in Australia, she bent down to stroke it and was told to leave it alone and come with me.
We had a paper bag with a gift from bali. They wanted to know what food had been in. None we said, look no food. They did not believe us so they confiscated a tin, that had food in but was empty. Oh well at least I got in that country with out a gun in my back. But thats another story, for another time.
