Hello,

A while ago I wrote a buying guide about motorhome air conditioners for french consumers and I've now translated it into english using an automated translator.
I've tried to correct most mistakes but I'm still not sure I'm satisfied with the results. The biggest issue is that I'm not aware of what motorhome owners in the UK usually go for in terms of air conditioning. That's the reason for me coming here 😅

If someone could take a bit of time to help me I would really appreciate it 😀
Thanks for taking the time of reading this thread.

Did you mean to link your guide so that we can read and comment on it?

Hello and welcome. For the few days of the year that the heat in the U.K. reaches 30 degrees, we take away a small portable air conditioning unit and run the exit hose out of the front cab window . It’s perfectly good for the few days we need it . It capable of dropping the temp from high twenties to high teens which is more than enough to be comfortable.

Welcome from The Cotswolds!(y)

As Swifter said, the temperature rarely gets to 30C - we just use portable rechargeable fans to circulate the air and keeper cool(er) when it’s hot…….

Hi and welcome to Fun 🤩

Its the UK, so rarely do we have the temp to need full aircon. We much prefer to open windows and roof vents and then moan about the weather 😅😄

:welco:
The problem with air con is it takes a lot of power so unless you have a large Lithium battery bank you need EHU so IMO a waste of time in a Motorhome.

You can keep the van cool with either a Fantastic vent or Maxxfan.
Also It only takes a few days to acclimatise in a warm climate.

Thanks for the very warm welcome on the forum :)

funflair I can share the link if it's not against the rules of the forum. (Even though I'm not too confident with my english skills).

One of the issue I had was to find alternative products/brands available (and well received) in the english market. Because, when I translated the guide in english, I kept the products from France and most are not available in the UK.

If you have any positive experience with aircon products, could you please share some feedback with me (so that I can recommend really great products to the readers).

Thanks :)

I think you might have to be a subscribed member to post a link and then I can't see it infringing any rules although I don't make them.

From my experience we have a Dometic freshjet 2200 fitted and it runs from our LiFePO4 batteries and solar(y)

Sorry I missed this the first time around lol .
I would imagine we have the same issues and “ go for “ the same air conditioning products as any other county . When it’s hot we want to be cool lol 😂. Also don’t forgot that many U.K. based motorhomes will travel abroad into France , Spain and beyond.

I would like to see the link too, as not all of us just use our vans in the UK. Following the Tour de France in July in the Alps and Pyrenees can be unbearable in the van.

Are you an Amazon affiliate?

it’s a shame the Amazon links don’t work . I would have purchased one of the split air con units at that price . It’s about half the price of the “ Cool my Camper “ product.

Why not search for it yourself online ?

Yep, that's the issue, those products are all available in France and that's why I came here to ask about what you guys in the UK "usually" buy (be it on Amazon or any other website really)
But it doesn't seem to be any different from what French people go for so I will just find new products as best as I can. Any product suggestion is still appreciated :giggle: (will try to include the Dometic freshjet 2200 funflair suggested)
