I was checking out the UK-Spain routes yesterday and the cost of a return cruise with a basic 2-berth cabin was in excess of £1,000.

I wonder if I could start a Just Giving Page.:(

Blimey,,what size is your van ?? I usually pay about £600 return max with a cabin,,BUSBY,,

Not big, just 7.5m

The actual cost was £1080 but apparently this reduces if you register with the booking system. I still think the quote is circa £800 once all is considered but this is still a hefty cost IMO.

We've not been to Spain by MoHo yet but if I then add the 800-miles in fuel from Durham to Plymouth, return, plus the X-hundred required to travel to Southern Spain then it works out to be an expensive trip.

I'll be starting my Just Giving page in the next few days so watch this space :D

Will you take returnable Bottles?.:D2

Seriously. I took the R-V (32ft with "sick" motor) plus car Bilbao to Portsmouth circa 2008. At an approx cost of £600. So almost 10 years on £800ish does not surprise me. However if you add the cost of travel through France (in our case 13mpg) to a Channel Crossing the numbers are not too far apart. I cannot say exactly but back then I estimated that Hull to the Costa`s and back, by road was in the order of £1.5K. In fact:- 1543.9 miles each way. (autoroute) 237gal at just over £1litre average at the time. Would be £522 in fuel plus a channel crossing, which if memory serves was around £60 each way. Getting on for £650 any way.
