Hello, new to this so bear with me. Have just bought a 2012 Chastain flash 10 with 32000 on the clock. Does anyone have any info on this model or know of anything that I should be looking out for? Also, I have noticed that the engine oil is about a quarter inch above the full mark. Will this be ok or should I drain some out?
Regards to all...

I once over filled my work van and a mechanic friend advised me to drain some out, can lead to burst head gaskets etc.

Hi tribalbrit, thanks for the info.
Not easy by the way, laid on your back and trying to remove drain plug and then re fit while oil running out. Much easier to drain the lot and then refill with the measured amount. Preferably new oil while your at it. filter to.

Many diesel engines now have a sensor for a high oil level as well as low oil level. Does a good job of shutting the engine down. Modern diesels tend to see the oil rise as it gets diluted with diesel. I understand the high level of biodiesel in the UK is one cause for this as it has a higher evaporation point and doesn't evaporate from the sump. Over the years I've had 2 vehicles with software updates/recalls to cure this, a Mitsubishi 10 years ago, and my Ford motorhome last year.

Last time I changed the oil i used a pump to get most of it out through the dipstick hole on my mini. A lot easier and you can just take a bit out. If the levels only slightly high I don't know if I'd bother. We've had a flash 10 from new in 2014 its been pretty good.
I would get on your back under the rear of the MH and check the floor behind the rear wheels we found that the sealant was pulling away between the floor and wall all redone now. Its also a good idea to remove any mud to stop moisture being held there against the wood. Look at the threads about the drop down bed on here at the moment and save them in case it starts to play up. How is your tambour door held when travelling we modded ours with an IKEA kids safety catch don't rely on travelling with it shut!
Enjoy your MH they were very popular new and don't come up for sale a lot we never expected to keep ours this long it's been good.
