Chausson Welcome Suite Central Bed

We've just last weekend taken on ownership of a 2010 Chausson Welcome Suite & in advance of our first planned away trip next weekend thought we'd try out the bed (no, not like that!) today. Had it hooked up to power from our garage & the bed moved up & down pretty well. All good. Then we tried raising it with the power from the garage off, so just from the Moho's leisure battery. It struggled & we couldn't get the bed all the way up. This was resolved when we switched the garage power back on, so we're wondering if this battery is old & whether a new, more powerful one would do the business. Or are we being too hopeful thinking a leisure battery will have enough power to lift the bad all the way?

We're hoping to use it off grid from time to time, a couple of festivals mainly, & we are considering getting a solar panel(s) fitted to the roof to boost the leisure battery when not hooked up. Any other comments/tips would be welcomed. Thank you.

Hi, we have a 2012 suite relax with I assume same type of central bed. Ours operates ok with just battery power if that helps. Any chance you can borrow a battery to check out or get yours tested

Hi.. does sound like your battery isnt up to the job if the bed wont move fully on battery alone.. but will when hooked up..
Charge the battery and see what sort of capacity it has...

Can also help to run the engine if no hook up available..just the same as starting up a diesel heater.. if your battery is struggling ..

Cheers, Andy. Tried it today with no hook up and the engine running. Not enough power in the battery to lift the bed all the way. Will be considering a new LB before we go away & stay off grid. Thanks for your help.
