Hi Guys

We bought our first Moho November last year and have only managed to use once before the cv19 lockdown and only used the EHU as the gas hadn't been checked.

We have had a lot of issues with it and I've taken advantage of the current situation spending time repairing/ improving things, though getting the right parts has sometimes been a problem.
I was lucky enough to get a local garage to do a hab check last week and gave the gas a clean bill on health except two of the 3 burners valves on the Smev hob are jammed and the fan for the heating system does not appear to be working. I'll probably replace the whole hob as the spares seem to be expensive but does anyone one know where the fan is located on the Flash 02? I've attached a pics of the controls.

Also can anyone tell me what this wire is for in the bottom on the wardrobe? It seem to have just been cut off.

Thank you in advance.

Chris

Can't help with the hob or heating but the wire looks like a mains one so I suspect someone put it in so they could install a microwave in the space. If you grab it (make sure electrics are off and hook-up not connected!) give it a wiggle round and you may be able to 'hear' where it has been run behind the unit then trace it back to where it's connected.

Getting spares from Chausson has always been a bit of an issue :) We waited several weeks for a new non-standard rooflights.

Try searching on you tube for info on fan, but look for specific heater not fan. It's likely to be under fixed bed or seats somewhere. Re the cable, can you see how many wires are inside?it might just be coax for an external aerial connection?

Is the fan for the heater? If so you may need to find a specialist Worksop its a diesel burning heater it might just be the fan but I suspect more likely represents something more expensive. If you want a chat send me a pm we are on our second Chausson. If you want to try the heater again first try making sure that the battery is fully charged and preferably on a hookup as its well known they won't work without a good power supply. There are 2 fans one in the heater burner which is under the motorhome that sounds a bit like a jet engine when it starts up the other inside to circulate the air.

thanks, Minxy, that would make sense. I’ll try that trace where the wire runs

Yes, tried that Mr B. I’m not even sure what fans fitted on these.

Yes the heater fan, though I think it can be run without heat? I have a Truma BS10 water heater and believe this provides the heating in this unit, but I’m not sure. If the fan is built in the issue might be with this. I need to get a LPG bottle and try and operate it

Your space heater is diesel fuelled from the vehicle fuel tank the take off from the heater is above the bottom of the tank so the heater stops before you totally run out of diesel. It can be switched on as just a fan when that's done it's just circulating the air inside the motorhome it's a bit of a waste of time.
The water heater is gas fueled if you have a second switch for the water heater it's got the option of electric to heat the water if you're on hook-up.

Have you got the manuals ?

Heres a photo of the manual page about the space heater

On your black switch, heater controls, does the red led come on when you press the fan switch ? If not then maybe a fuse has blown supplying the circuit or maybe you have to have the Hab control panel switched on for it to work (can't remember right now if that is so or not).

The other switch in your photo is totally for water heating so has no effect on the diesel heating system.

No red light at all even when control panel on and on EHU. All the fuses in the control box are ok so I suspect something amiss with electric so will get the trusty multimeter out and play the tracing game.

Thanks again for help.

The Eberspacher diesel heater in my 510 will power up regardless of the PC180 control panel being on, it can even be used to warm the hab area while driving.

i think there is an inline fuse in the heaters loom as well as the 20a (AUX 2 fuse 8)in the DS300 fuse/distribution box.

Same with our one (best of 10)

Ours needs need At least quarter of a tank of diesel for it to work.
.

I’ve just had a look at the wiring diagram supplied with my van and it doesn’t show an in-line fuse......however it also doesn’t show the controller or the optional remote temperature thermistor that was factory fitted.

Here is a picture of a standard Eberspacher D2/D4 diesel heater loom Showing an in-line fuse

Mine needs Approx 1/4 of a tank to run, however it will go through the startup procedure and fail when the flame detector doesn’t ‘see’ a flame due to no diesel.

The power light still lights and the fan will run to clear the combustion chamber prior to attempting to start.

If when you press the fan button and you don't get a red led, can you hear a fan running or air being blown from the ducts ? If not you first task is to get that you happen.

On ours the fan to move air round the MH does not need heating selected. If your fan is not running, that maybe an interlock circuit to the heater.

Other than that, if the thermistor is blown then it maybe that the heating thinks it should switch off due to the Hab being too hot. You can check a thermistor with a multimeter, your looking for something like 2000 ohms, not short and not infinity.

I believe if an external thermister fails or is not fitted the D2 will revert to using an internal temperature sensor in the inlet duct......but it maybe just if an external one is not fitted.

Thanks you all for all the replies.

Does anyone know if the D2 is run from the cab (ford transit) electrics rather than hab electrics? I checked both sets of fuses last evening and they all seemed ok.

I also found the location of the the D2 heater externally so is there and easy way to check if power is getting to it? The unit seems dead, no fan running etc and the tank is nearly full of diesel so it can't be that.

I will test the thermistor is this the one attached to the heater casing?

Thanks again

Yeah your D2 will be under the floor.

mime is powered from the hab battery but mine is Fiat based.....but would think yours was the same.

You could check for 12v at the Dial/switch and at the heater itself.

There will be is an internal temperature sensor in the units ducting and possibly an external remote unit that could be anywhere, they’re supposed to go in an area that gets ambient temperature but not adversely effected by things like doors or heater outlets.....but don’t be surprised if one has been fitted/plugged in, but just bundled up among the spare cables of the loom, making it very unresponsive to any changes in temp.

i have got wiring diagrams for the D2 and the controller you have, somewhere, If you need them, but they are all available on Ebespachers web site.

Yay...Got it working. I was checking through the connectors and seemed to have voltage at the D2 so I then checked the connector for the the controller cable which also had voltage . When I reconnected the cable the the red led light came on at the controller and the heater started no problems. Not too noisy and no smoke. Very happy so another job ticked off the list.

Thanks for help everyone. I now how the heating works and save ££s as I was about to into the local eberspacher service centre to get it repaired.
