I've got a chausson 85 which is based on the 244 Ducato and I've seen lots of gripes about cold cabs/heaters not working. Ive got the opposite problem ... after a while I notice my stress level rising and temper shortening due to the driver overheating! This is because the drivers under seat heater is permanently on. Its OK in winter on a long journey but in France/Italy in summer its pretty unbearable in no time even with aircon on max. My understanding is that this should work by diverting heated coolant from the engine to a heat exchanger under the drivers seat which is then vented into the cab via an auxiliary fan and should only come on if I switch the auxiliary fan on on the aircon console. However, this doesnt seem to be the case.
Is my understanding of how it should work correct and if so, where do I look for the fault (please dont tell me Fiat decided to fry everones backsides by design :_ ) ).
Hoping someone can help or Ill have to resort to sitting on cool blocks!
