We have been crossing the channel every year for the last 10 years or more, but because we visit friends in Brittany we have always taken the Newhaven Dieppe ferry because it was nearer to Brittany. This year we are not visiting our friends and so are considering using Le Shuttle, but my OH is concerned about congestion on M20 into Folkestone and into Calais on the return journey with regards to migrant troubles etc.

Those of you who have used the Calais crossing recently, does she have anything to worry about?

TIA

Go to Canterbury the day before, on the way back Cite Europe the day before, simple.

Get an evening crossing, park up at Cité Europe, then you are good to go the next morning. Early morning on the way back will give you time to start your drive home after crossing.
Cheers

Even during the height of reported hold ups we have never been affected.. Lorries are stacked, cars vans and motorhomes are sent through.. As @Sheddy says.. get an evening crossing, plot up at Cite Europe ( there is a large car park signed up for motorhomes ) and travel bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning :-)

Perfectly OK any time of day (or night).

The have started down the bits that were for brexit so overnight closures for the next week?

Went two weeks ago, no hold ups either end. Stayed at Cite d’Europe on the way out, very quiet.

cant add much to what others have said, apart from 10 years of tunnel travel only been late once when a train , not ours broke down in the tunnel mostly get on earlier trains and as to any protest/ imigrant trouble just drove past it(y)
