Changing lights to LED spotlights - help (1 Viewer)

Hi funsters,

Never done this before so need some confidence. I want to fit new LED lights, do we just chop above the red plastic and then attach our red wire to the brown and the black wire to the blue.

Attaching wires by just wrapping round each other?

Assistance appreciated.

Test the polarity of original wiring before using crimps to join the old wires to new. Twisting together will give big issues later

Use a 5 amp connector block or the same red connectors (new once of course) as was already there!

Was it not possible to just change the bulb in the original fitting?

Deifnitely use crimps or jointing connectors like Wago connectors. (ie, don't just twist them together, that will result in the vibration as you drive on the motorhome likely eventually causing a weak joint and in worst case a nasty fire risk). Crimps are my preferred option usually as if they fail they'll fail inside the connector and be significantly less likely to cause a short.

If you have a soldering iron then twist and solder then a wrap of insulation tape

Blue is + and brown - for 12V on my van. I have never been let down by Wago connectors and really easy to use.
