Is it possible to reset the code on the radio/cd player in a Citroen Boxer cab? Our moho went in for a new battery and after fitting the radio/cd wanted the code which we haven't got. The battery supplier wasn't helpful, seeming to think that it was our fault we didn't have the code to hand Any help would be much appreciated.

Have a look at the hand books, it is often supplied on a card, or if not might have been written in somewhere ?

I do not know about Citroen but if it was a BMW they have the radio codes on file at any dealer and supply them free of charge.

Try the usual 1234 or 0000

A YouTube search for “radio code for.............” might come up with something....

Anyway I went radioless for a few months, but had a trip to do and wanted the radio. So after a bit of a search yesterday, I found:

http://www.dekodes.com/

This allows you to enter your radio serial number and for a CC payment of £5.88 (this was for a Blaupunkt radio) it will immediately tell you the code. Worked very well indeed. You need to register and provide a 'company name', though I just put in 'no company'.

The only problem I had was extracting the radio itself. In the end I found some help using a google search, but essentially there are 4 grub screws that I needed to extract using a tamper proof screwdriver bit (you can get a set of these at screwfix for £9.99, but probably an allen key would work). Removing these provides 4 holes into which you need to insert 4 small screwdrivers or similar (I used some wooden kebab sticks) whereupon you can pull the radio out by pulling carefully at the cassette slot.

citroen will need proof of ownership, plus the logbook with vin number to look up the code

Sometimes it is written on the back of the unit (but that means getting the release keys and sliding it out) so best bet is one of the online boys or at least ask your local dealer's advice. You won't be the first person to ask.

Just like the dinosaurs.

But I've bought passwords off ebay a couple of times for very little money. But you do need the serial number of the radio.

You next post will be "how do I get my radio out of it's housing".
