Can anyone suggest an eatery for a birthday treat on a Thursday night in Cardiff, even the posh ones dont get a very good writeups ( without chucking bundles of tenners, looking at the prices)
Also intending to visit the Folk Museum where we' ve been assured theres loads of parking, not sure if its free but no height barriers at least
Thanks in advance

We had a great meal at the prison. No alcohol, but absolutely delicious food.

Take a look at the restaurants in Cardiff Bay. There are a few decent Italian eateries and I think a Chinese.

if you like pizza and cider the Cardiff stable is excellent

Look at Penarth. James Sommerin has just got a Michelin star. Fantastic food. About 8 miles out of Cardiff.

Otherwise Cardiff is a bit of a culinary wasteland. Very good options at Abergavenny and Monmouth.

the museum is free but you pay for the parking , buy bread from the bakers on site not cheap but lovely , I agree 'The Clink' prison restaurant is an experience and the food good (It outside the walls)

Steak of Art has good reviews but it help if you eat meat

If you head out a little the Hare & hounds is Cowbridge gets great reviews great the last time I was in

Elgano Italian on Cathedral road, good food at a reasonable price, easy walking distance from the City Center Camp site. (y)

Go away from the city centre to Heannys restaurant in pontcanna.

There is plenty of parking a St Fagans but the big open area is grass and has quite a slope
