Ours have gone down, we've got 3 Uk cars plus MH, and they've all gone down, only about 2% when my mileage is down 75%.

The report also said shop around because we are still getting shafted because of loyalty.

Mine was with Aviva until last year on renewal they wanted another £50, I rang them for an explanation and was given aload of bull****
about a lot of accidents in your postcode. So I checked up and it was quite the opposite, due to lockdown accidents had reduced substantially.
Insurance companies are just plain greedy.

I used to have 9+ years protected NCD but lost it completely, after I got rid of my car and started using the PVC as a daily driver. That car NCD apparently expires after 2 years, boo hiss. It seems unfair there is an arbitrary NCD expiry date and my excellent claims record with both the car and MH counts for nothing.

Last year I bought a new Jazz to share with the Duxette. With zero NCD the car insurance first premium (with Aviva) is about 3x more than I was used to with my previous car in a much higher insurance group, including business use.

Thanks to this thread I feel a bit more optimistic that the first renewal will be much cheaper (with 1 year's NCD, fingers crossed).

Just renewed our car insurance, this year's renewal had gone up by almost 30% for no apparent reason. Did a quick check on one of the comparison web sites, same policy with the same company almost 40% cheaper. Rang them directly and reinsured for just under half the price of the renewal and with a slightly higher annual mileage as I have a few trips to Somerset to clear/sell my mothers house in the next couple of months. The agent I spoke to had no idea why the renewal quote was so much but did say that they had been seeing a lot of customers not renewing this year, so looks like someone decided to see how much they could screw out of loyalty.

My late father in law used to say his insurance was paying for the big buildings and deep pile carpets.

Regardless of length of ncb here it expires after 1month. In the Uk when younger I ran at least 2 vehicles sometimes 3. Used to swop the ncb's around at renewal time just to keep them all inside 2 years.

Aug 09 to date 9,000 miles!
Well my pension schemes I paid into whilst working for various insurance companies and brokers are still keeping me in gin and other such essentials, having commuted it in 2009 paid for our first motorhome, let alone paying for diesel, maintenance, tyres and insurance, camping fees and whatever on an ongoing basis. Thank you all very much!

Even though your contributions are slightly overshadowed by commercial and quasi Governmental outfits paying annual premiums running into 6 figures. The risk is greater than commensurately greater when you have over 1,000 vehicles in your fleet!

Insurers are only interested in snaring new business, they couldn't give a stuff about current customers.
Don't renew with current insurer, apply with them as a new customer and save money.
