Got a new Smarty card for the E5573 MIFI which has sat in the van for 6 months unused, charged it logged on and activated it and it comes up on my Smarty dashboard as a MIFI so I know its been activated, but it just displays a red light for network, I have logged into the MIFI searched through the options but can't find anything to change, anyone got any ideas?

Perhaps just a black spot for Smarty aka 3 try sim in your phone and phone sim in your E5573

Have you paid recently?

Might have made a boob here, I was sure I bought it unlocked off ebay, but the wife who is never wrong, says no it came from 3.
As me and 3 are in dispute over £29 which they say I owe in spite of giving me a leaving code, which I photographed on the screen, so I ain't phoning them, since then because of lock down its sat unloved in the glove box.

So I said sod it and bought a new Netgear Nighthawk one from amazon. :giggle:

You may need to change the APN
Yes. What he said.
I had to check/change APN to get GiffGaff to work with my Huawei 5577C

Is that a big enough clue? 'can add results of a Bing search later...

If it locked that won't work.
So it is confirmed locked?
'cos that APN check suggestion is valid for what we knew for 100% at top ;)

edit: got it, the wife knows best @ 9:23pm ;)
NP. need to sell on your mifi or heal your rift with 3

Our Smarty sim we had to register on their website and it was turned on after purchasing a top-up. You can get codes off ebay to unlock devices connected to 3 if needed.

Check eBay for unlock code.
This is what we used to do prior to Morocco trips. Buy a cheap locked one ie vodaphone and unlock codes used to be about £1..
Worth a try.

I did look on an unlocked site but they didn't list my model, so I thought it's a good excuse to buy a new one. :giggle:

Three stopped locking devices since 2014, so maybe APN issue.

New Netgear mifi arrived along with an aerial puck, we don't know whether we are keeping this van so I don't want to do anything Permanent like drill holes in the roof and mounting it all out of the way, so opted for fitting the magnetic base so I can put it through the skylight just above, there is also a handy usb socket. The wiring does look a bit untidy but I can live with that for the time being until I know what we are doing.
I 3D printed the holders for them.

When we bought our Mifis we thought they were unlocked but werent. I tried a code from eBay that failed to work. After some googling, I bought an O2 sim card for £1 , and once I registered it , O2 gave me unlock code for free.
