Just a quick one.

If we book a site in advance or on the day. And we are unable to make it.

Does anyone know the cancellation policy please ?.

I’ve tried to glean the info from their site but it’s not clear (to us) .

You have to phone or email the company and cancel verbally.
However, as we found out a couple of weeks ago, the minimum notice is 2 days. We forfeited out reservation.

We had it but it lapsed. No reason to use it when not in Europe. Doing Ireland this September and not many associated sites there.

Just ease of finding somewhere with 3 children for us
Has anyone ever found a full one? We haven't, no way I would be booking, there's always somewhere else close by anyway.
In fact if you have the app you can see if there is space before you go to it.

No, we've always got into the sites we've planned to stay at. The one at Saumur was the closest to full.
Interesting to see the growth and history of CCP and their principles behind the take over of municipal sites. They have paid local authorities over 10 million euros and now have more than 600 sites. If you have a moment, read through their website history, most enlightening particularly their environmental approach.

Saumur was full the other year when we tried to get in. The river festival was on so that could have had something to do with it.

Yes! Lion Sur Mer was full despite being told vacancies someone already in had decided to stop more nights so no room at the inn, anyway moved up the road for a free stop so a win for us! ( It was 10 days before the D day celebrations)

We have used ccp extensively for some years as swmbo likes them, and we have never found them short of spaces. Some quite the reverse Verdun sur le Doubs in June had two pitches occupied out of 100 and a brand new toilet/ shower block. Even today in the school hollies it has 63 vacancies. They have so many sites now there's always another not too far away.

A couple of weeks ago we stayed at Martel (absolutely beautiful town) for 3 nights because it was stinking hot and there is lots of shade there. It was full all the time we were there and we only got the last pitch when we arrived. It is the only one of their sites that I have been on which permits caravans and tents. There was only one caravan but with a full awning and a car took at least 2 pitches. There was also a couple of young women in tents but they were using corners that would not be accessible to MHs. People appeared to be gaining access by phoning the control desk and saying there was still space (the pitches are not defined) so it ended up very squashed in parts. There is a free Aire about 100m along the road but with no facilities whatsoever.

See my post at #12. We were near the borne and there was lots of "merde, merde" and worse going on!

Yes, having speed-read through that, it is interesting. We first had a card in 2014 and then hardly used it until 2020. Since then it is a go-to option. They are more reliable than the ones run by the municipality that usually means some poor sod in the Mairie gets lumbered with collecting fees late evening or early morning.

I think the key is getting there early. If you leave it too late in the day, most people have already got to where they're going.

I like the idea of CCP and we do use them....but always with a little caution. There are many reports of people leaving legitimate negative reviews that don't ever get published. I'm one of those people.

Yes several. though as we tend to arrive early pm its not as much of a problem. we notice that many sites not just ccp fill up from about 4 pm. So arriving about say 6pm especially on small, popular, holidays/ festival times sites will fill more quickly. We tend to go to quieter places and avoid holiday dates this helps enormously not arriving and finding sites full. It all depends on how you travel. We do have the privileges pack do not use it often but IMO its a bit of security it required.

It is one of those risk aversion things. We prefer to be on-site by around 16:00 latest but there are still the bold ones who turn up in the dark. I once had someone tapping on my window when it was already nearly dark asking if I could move across a bit. We would have been almost door to door so I declined at which point he went from smiley to arsy in a flash. You takes your choice.

We're using ours and it's working well, especially in August. We don't have high expectations:giggle:

Are you sure it lapsed and did not auto-renew? I have just investigated cancelling my Pack Privileges subscription and found the following instruction:-

  • The PACK'PRIVILÈGES must be cancelled by post addressed to CAMPING-CAR PARK (Service Résiliation PP - 3, rue du Docteur Ange Guépin 44210 Pornic - France) at least 1 month before the renewal date indicated in the « My account » section of the CAMPING-CAR PARK website or application. In this letter, you must indicate the reference number of your PASS'ÉTAPES card as well as your name, first name, postal address and email address.

So, dead easy to subscribe to digitally but all the way back to snail mail if you want out. I'm very surprised that they pull a stunt like this.

Couldn't you just not pay them? I'm sure they will stop your membership then.

I still want to use the card, and I have a reasonable credit balance in the account, but we just don't use any of the features in the Privileges Pack as it turns out.

You don't need any credit on the card , just pay by credit card as you leave.

Yes, I found that when I wanted to cancel mine recently. Very frustrating.

CCP is a commercial business, the extra subscription for this facility is good income to them. Making it difficult to cancel is not surprising. They also rely on customers not remembering to cancel and just letting it roll over. Their scheme, their rules.
