Can I replace solar controller with a lcd

I have this. (in pics) and i want to reolace it with a lcd contoller.
Can i just swap this out for a new one or is it more complicated?
This one doesnt show me anything.
All help appreciated.

That just looks like an ammeter with battery selection switch. Have you got an actual solar regulator? If the solar panel is small you might not have one. (n)
 
There is a large rectangular solar panel on the roof but that's the only item i can see to do with solar!
 
Hmm, it needs somebody to suss it all out with a multimeter and find out what's wired to what etc. I think Some motorhome electric panels have solar connections so will have a built in regulator.

Anyway regarding your question, yes you can either have a new separate regulator with screen or maybe just replace the ammeter with a battery monitor, our BM2 is very good and you can get a mini version too :)

Does it go up when the sun shines? Say up to 5amps?

That is a monitor dedicated to your solar regulator so you won't be able to just swap it.
Better to replace it with a battery monitor like the Victron BVM 700.
