Don't often take the time to recommend camp sites to the membership, but make an exception for Camping Cáceres which is located about 4km north of the city. Perhaps not in the same class as Marjal or Bella Vista but quite exceptional in its own way.
129 compacted (sandy)level pitches on rising terraces, beautiful pools, adult and children, with nicely landscaped picnic areas around them, bar and two restaurants and a bus service nearby.
However, for us, the one factor which raises the site to the special category is that EVERY pitch has its own private toilet/shower facility for exclusive use......... A bit special and worth a stopover if nearby. ACSI site rates apply.

It was here by the way, today, that we met our first ever touring "funsters"....... You know who you are guys, nice to have met you, enjoy your trip

Regards, Bryan

We love the site , always stop in on the way south , oh and a Moho wash bay at the top left which is handy(y)

Nice to meet you Brian , even if it was only briefly. Moving on tomorrow too to try and avoid pending thunderstorms. Heading for Elvas. Nice looking aire by a 6km 4 tier viaduct. Think we are in for few days unsettled weather then things should pick up.
Safe travels .

Great site - we were there for Womad weekend in May...

Been twice, great free wifi(y)

Yes, forgot to mention excellent wifi from all areas of the site. All round...... Great site will use it again on way home.

This is not an official "Aire", it is just a very large car park. We stayed there at the end of March this year and had no problems - about 25 motorhomes scattered over a car park for about 400 cars! But there are no facilities there. Looked like there may be a public toilet on a nearby grassy area but it was locked when we were there.

You can get free water and dump waste at the nearby Intermarche. It is in the Aires book as being an Aire in itself, but there were no suitable parking bays when we were there.

If you don't fancy a large impersonal car park there is a nice little Aire in the nearby village of Terrugem. We stopped there in April on the way back home. Again it is in the Aires book.

Elvas is a fabulous town - it is a UNESCO heritage site. Well worth a visit.

Thanks for that info Pete. Only just seen it as had no internet. Called there but did not stay. Fantastic viaduct!

Great site and bus stop just across the road to get into town and supermarkets. Will use again when down that way.
