Just looking
Hello
I'm really keen on getting a campervan (quite like a T5, would still be happy with a Bongo), however, it looks to me that prices are somewhat inflated at the moment. Granted i've not looked for a few years as I've not had the cash until now, but i remember seeing VW's for 15/16k with decent interiors, pop up roofs etc. Now it seems as though i'd be lucky to get much change out of 25k for something similar.

This is a general question - but what with the understandably high demand at the moment, are people noticing higher prices. I'd be happy to wait a year or so for things to die down (begrudgingly) if it meant saving 3 or 4k.

Cheers

Yeah prices are certainly high at the moment. Self contained stay at/near home holidays are making a lot of sense to people since covid reared its ugly mug so sales are through the roof. I dare say there is still bargains to be found somewhere though.

Does 95k mile VW T5 camper with fairly new condition conversion, with pop-top roof for £20k seem massively overpriced?

20k for a motorhome/camper for a 2006 model is about right at the moment . We paid 21k for our motorhome at the end of 2019 . I now see similar or older models for around 25k so that’s the kind of increase that has happened .

Thanks - by about right, do you mean that a vw 2006 model in 2019 would have been about 15k?

I have been converting/upgrading campervans/motorhomes for a while now and this time last year I could buy a VW for at least £4,000 less than now... I have turned my attention to the Nissan Elgrand and Toyota Alphard as I can give a much better product for less money as I honestly believe these are much more for your Pound..

Unfortunately VW campers do hold their price, one of our daughters has a 1996 and put a new engine in it last year, they love it and wouldn't want anything else, before that they had a old VW golf convertible. 🙄
I would prefer something with a bathroom and more self sufficient. 😁 Bob.
