I think your right! If just purchased it would not be taxed (almost certainly) and probably not insured which may explain why the driver panicked and attempted to speed away. Still a pillock though.I wonder if it was the new owner who was driving? It says in the article that:
"Island Echo understands the vehicle was only sold by its previous owner at 18:00."
So either it was bought with fake money/bankers draft etc so the Police were trying to get it back, or was a genuine purchase and the new owner was a pillock, or it was nicked ... my money's on the 'pillock' version!
Will be interesting to hear the outcome!
