Camper vs Motorhome

Just wondering why camper vans can be more expensive than a low to mid range motorhome, is the base vehicle the problem ?

It might be that campervans are more difficult to build.

With a campervan the builder has to work inside a cramp space.

With a motorhome the builder can fit the interior before adding the walls. Look at YouTube for a motorhome build video and you'll see it's a more efficient process.

Also a manufacturer who produces a coachbuilt/A-class can control the cost of the habitation 'box' build, whereas with a van based one they have to buy the full 'van' at whatever price the producer specifies.
