There is no congestion charge in Bristol. There is a Clean Air Zone which applies to some vehicles but not many actually. Old diesels and VERY old petrols are the only ones affected. The majority of drivers are fine. My 20 year old petrol car still gets into Bristol (and every other city centre in the UK) for free. My diesel motorhome goes into Bristol for free too!
Our pitch at a campsite in France. Water and drainage on site, excellent toilets and showers (have to be good for me to use). This was just one of the many sites we stayed on. All well kept with loads of space. Perhaps you went to the wrong sites? My experience of campsites in France is they are generally less well kept, you have much less space around you and sanitation in some is almost 3rd world.
You pay your money, you make your choice I guess.
Or the cost of wine in France and SpainThat will be difficult. "pubs close to CAMC sites"? Most of them are in the middle of nowhere with nothing nearby. Granted a few are in 'prime locations' but boy do you have to pay for them.
Maybe the government should be subsidising our campsites. I can imagine that going down wellCurrently staying at Municipal Moussac Sur Vienne which is £11.50 per night for 2 people including an electric hookup and a water tap on the pitch. It is a lovely quiet site right next to the river Vienne. Our pitch extends to where I am standing.

Your over 60 discount, isn't applied during the high season period.Just looked to book 4 nights at St Neots, CCC, midweek in August with over 60’s discount and 2 grandkids under 10, a staggering £190!! How do they justify these prices. No wonder there’s still places!!
Unfortunately, Discount code ACR20UK is not valid. Price is still £197!!Your over 60 discount, isn't applied during the high season period.
However, there are a number of other discount codes available that can be used but these need to entered manually when booking. Also these only apply to specific sites and dates and may not include St Neots.
Edit,
Just checked and St Neots is included , so if you already qualify for the age concession rate. Use the code ACR20UK in the discount code box and you will get 20% discount during the high season.
successful with code MWDUK25 now £155.25. BookedUnfortunately, Discount code ACR20UK is not valid. Price is still £197!!
Ah, sorry got the code wrong, i should of put ACRUK20. Looks like you got sorted though with another code.Unfortunately, Discount code ACR20UK is not valid. Price is still £197!!
I live in Baltic Wharf. My van is a 2005 Private HGV and would cost me £100 to take it home! There is no congestion charge in Bristol. Still I could only get to £177
Have you a big rig?
Joys of being solo... £59 for me, grass no electric 4 nights = bargain
If this is the municipal camping, I have stayed there 3 times. The pool was a real mess and closed but the last time we stayed there was a delegation looking at it, so probably renovated when you stayed.[Broken Link Removed]
The central Bristol streets that already have a total ban on diesel vehicles is the thin end of a big wedge. The CAZ has expanded, will probably do so again, and the classes of vehicles that are currently exempt will surely shrink in the not too distant future. The City Council isn't going to sit on its hands.
If Euro7 becomes a reality, what are the likely implications for Euro6 diesel MHs? Enjoy your free exemptions while they last.

A good french municipal at 15 euros versus a CAMC at 50 quid...with the advantage of being in France....the £170 quid ferry round trip soon gets absorbed by by the savings over a couple if week's stay ....France every time for me.We will have been at 3 CMC sites by end of next week, all expensive but they gives what we want.
IMHO, sites in Europe / France may be cheaper but surely to have a fair comparison you need to factor in cost of ferry/tunnel, (dog costs, if relevant), some fuel costs that would be over and travel to a CMC site. Divide the total by number of nights stay abroad and add to their site fees and differences may not be that much, depending on length of stay.![]()
I believe they have lost the plot, they say its a non profit club run for the benefit of the members but at the prices they are now charging they are losing revenue because people are not using the sites . I recently went to three sites which would normally be difficult to get a pitch on and each was only half to two third full and it seems people are also staying for shorter periods to mitigate the price inceases. Surely someone at Club HQ must be asking the questions as to why they are becoming much less popular, until thy do something about it things will only get worse. We are currently at CAMC in Buxton. It's an excellent site with newly refurbished shower block that is top class, very well looked after, in a fabulous setting and very friendly wardens. Yet it is literally half empty, I don't know if it is the £40 per night (which we think is steep) or because the weather has been poor. My gut feel is the leadership at CAMC have misread their market and customers.
For example there is no mobile signal, yet they are still in the process of upgrading the wifi to something effective. Surely it should have been upgraded and free a few years ago given there is no 4G? It would be different if there were some other way to communicate with the outside world.
Early this year we had a month in Europe and averaged just over £20 per night at campsites, and that included a lakeside pitch at Maggiore that was around €38.
