CAMC Prices

Sounds good👍
Where do I find listings of independent cl’s pls

There is no congestion charge in Bristol. There is a Clean Air Zone which applies to some vehicles but not many actually. Old diesels and VERY old petrols are the only ones affected. The majority of drivers are fine. My 20 year old petrol car still gets into Bristol (and every other city centre in the UK) for free. My diesel motorhome goes into Bristol for free too!

The central Bristol streets that already have a total ban on diesel vehicles is the thin end of a big wedge. The CAZ has expanded, will probably do so again, and the classes of vehicles that are currently exempt will surely shrink in the not too distant future. The City Council isn't going to sit on its hands.

If Euro7 becomes a reality, what are the likely implications for Euro6 diesel MHs? Enjoy your free exemptions while they last.

We are members of both clubs, we normally only us the CL/CS sites. We did use a club site earlier this year because it was so wet we were worried about getting stuck and wanted hardstanding and good roads.
We have just done a trip to Whitby with a stopover each way, booked independently so we may cancel the membership next year.

Just looked to book 4 nights at St Neots, CCC, midweek in August with over 60’s discount and 2 grandkids under 10, a staggering £190!! How do they justify these prices. No wonder there’s still places!!

My experience of campsites in France is they are generally less well kept, you have much less space around you and sanitation in some is almost 3rd world.

You pay your money, you make your choice I guess.
Our pitch at a campsite in France. Water and drainage on site, excellent toilets and showers (have to be good for me to use). This was just one of the many sites we stayed on. All well kept with loads of space. Perhaps you went to the wrong sites?

That will be difficult. "pubs close to CAMC sites"? Most of them are in the middle of nowhere with nothing nearby. Granted a few are in 'prime locations' but boy do you have to pay for them.
Or the cost of wine in France and Spain

Currently staying at Municipal Moussac Sur Vienne which is £11.50 per night for 2 people including an electric hookup and a water tap on the pitch. It is a lovely quiet site right next to the river Vienne. Our pitch extends to where I am standing.

Maybe the government should be subsidising our campsites. I can imagine that going down well 🤷‍♀️

Your over 60 discount, isn't applied during the high season period.
However, there are a number of other discount codes available that can be used but these need to entered manually when booking. Also these only apply to specific sites and dates and may not include St Neots.
Edit,
Just checked and St Neots is included , so if you already qualify for the age concession rate. Use the code ACR20UK in the discount code box and you will get 20% discount during the high season.

Unfortunately, Discount code ACR20UK is not valid. Price is still £197!!

I booked 4 nights in Brighton almost a full year ago. Am i expected to pay the "today" price or the original price when I made the booking?

I've just left the C&CC after 5 years. We are still in the C&MC but I'm not sure if we should even be in that. The prices are getting silly. We completed 5 weeks earlier in the year in Germany Black Forest and Romantic road route. We never went on a site but used mainly Eires and wild damping. We passed lots of lovely Eires driving down the Mosel river for between 15 and 20 euros, vans parked right up to the waters edge.
We bought our legal quota of wine for £3.50 a bottle, £8.05 in our local shop.

I live in Baltic Wharf. My van is a 2005 Private HGV and would cost me £100 to take it home!

Presumably only 1 acr and hardstanding with ehu... ?
Still I could only get to £177
Have you a big rig?

Joys of being solo... £59 for me, grass no electric 4 nights = bargain

St Neots 2 ACR’s, 2 grandkids (between 6-17), awning and hard standing £197, before discount code.

Just finished a three nighter on a small commercial in Annan. Grass/swamp(with all the rain)+EHU and neat loo block £20 pn for 2. Glad I put mats down. Some of the other MH's struggled to get on to the tarmac from flatter pitches than mine. The small RWD whoosh-bang next to me carved a couple of furrows getting off. I would imagine that CAMC will closing grass pitches soon with the amount of rain we are getting currently.

If this is the municipal camping, I have stayed there 3 times. The pool was a real mess and closed but the last time we stayed there was a delegation looking at it, so probably renovated when you stayed.

My motorhome is a leisure vehicle for leisure trips. I don't need to go to city centres. Even if there are no restrictions we tend to park outside and bike it in. I don't forsee any change in my use even if it was hit by restrictions.

This year the open-air swimming pool is in excellent condition. A member of staff keeps it clean. It was well-used by families every day. There isn't a life guard so the parents are responsible for supervision and that seems to work.

We will have been at 3 CMC sites by end of next week, all expensive but they gives what we want.

IMHO, sites in Europe / France may be cheaper but surely to have a fair comparison you need to factor in cost of ferry/tunnel, (dog costs, if relevant), some fuel costs that would be over and travel to a CMC site. Divide the total by number of nights stay abroad and add to their site fees and differences may not be that much, depending on length of stay. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
A good french municipal at 15 euros versus a CAMC at 50 quid...with the advantage of being in France....the £170 quid ferry round trip soon gets absorbed by by the savings over a couple if week's stay ....France every time for me.

We are currently at CAMC in Buxton. It's an excellent site with newly refurbished shower block that is top class, very well looked after, in a fabulous setting and very friendly wardens. Yet it is literally half empty, I don't know if it is the £40 per night (which we think is steep) or because the weather has been poor. My gut feel is the leadership at CAMC have misread their market and customers.

For example there is no mobile signal, yet they are still in the process of upgrading the wifi to something effective. Surely it should have been upgraded and free a few years ago given there is no 4G? It would be different if there were some other way to communicate with the outside world.

Early this year we had a month in Europe and averaged just over £20 per night at campsites, and that included a lakeside pitch at Maggiore that was around €38.

I believe they have lost the plot, they say its a non profit club run for the benefit of the members but at the prices they are now charging they are losing revenue because people are not using the sites . I recently went to three sites which would normally be difficult to get a pitch on and each was only half to two third full and it seems people are also staying for shorter periods to mitigate the price inceases. Surely someone at Club HQ must be asking the questions as to why they are becoming much less popular, until thy do something about it things will only get worse.

Just paid £71 for 2 nights i gowerton (on the marsh). i have a funeral friday morn 10am and the wake after. £35.50 a night shocking. this will be the last time i stay on a CAMC. i could not find any CLs around Gorseinon/Llanelli.

is the C&CC better?
Billy

Sticking up for CAMC and C&CC (I know they've got their faults), at least you're able to cancel and/or amend your bookings.
This year I've had to change a couple of bookings at private sites, and I've lost the booking fee at both of them. Doesn't sound a big deal but, the last site I had to cancel, charged a £60 booking fee (the total site fee was £64!) which has now disappeared down the plug hole.

I understand that they need to protect their income, and stop people cancelling for no legit reason (eg just 'cos it's raining when you've booked) but surely there should be some leeway.

All that happens now is there are 2 sites that I won't patronise in the future.

Why should the business take the hit for your misfortune? Presumably you knew the implications of cancelling at the time of booking? You could always insure any potential losses?
