I see the Caravan and Motorhome club will be increasing prices due to the increasing costs of energy. That, I can live with. However, their statement says "The increase will be between 70p and £2.50 per night depending on the season and the campsite you are planning to stay on."

Why should it increase due to the season?

Winter use of electric goes up due to heaters being used, not everyone uses Gas heaters.

People use much more leccy in the wintertime. I’ve seen this coming for ages, surprised it hasn’t happened sooner. Plenty of people waste energy, I would like to see metering. Phil

Just priced up Brecon site for 3 nights over £100.00, crazy.

Supply and demand. Also they own the business so they can charge what they like.
Hope they don't increase temporary holiday site cost.
That's Camping & Caravan Club. A lot of THS are block booked commercial sites like Porth Beach, if they put their prices up............

THSs are CCC not CAMC.
True but CAMC run similar, i can never remember which are cs and which cl, same thing different spelling as my dad would say.

Just read the email, sounds like they are increasing the prices for existing bookings as well.
In my case I have a couple of nights booked at Uttoxeter on my way to Chester food festival. It says to check after the 5th April to what my new price will be. It may only be a few pennies and I will suck it up for now. However it stinks.
Membership renewal doubtful.

All the more reason to make all pitches available without leccy instead of the "it's there and you will PAY for it" attitude.
It’s a buisness and in it for money, not our benefit

Silly me... and I thought it was a "not for profit" members club to cater for and benefit said members.
So please explain how private independent sites who are in the business to make a profit can usually cater for those not wanting leccy.???

That is correct; my email said that my existing bookings will go up in price

THS - Temporary Holiday Sites are totally different to Cl and CSs which are permanent limited facilities small sites limited to a maximum of 5 units.
Think you've quoted the wrong post. I didn't say anything about CLs and CSs just THSs.

I did not renew my membership this year, C&MC have increased their prices every year, and as we got nothing out of them in 2020 or 2021, we decided that it was not worth staying a member

Ask them, it’s their buisness their choice. As far as I know it’s not compulsory to belong to any of the clubs.

Why wouldn’t they? My fuel went up in October and going up again soon.

My apologies, I should have quoted scotsuze's

Seems reasonable, we find that they are still often more competitive than independent sites. The problem is they have laid out the costs for having power and will have standing charges. So probably not viable to offer a reduced cost to not use their power. Will be interesting to see whether the costs do actually go up more in the winter which would be logical……

It is not for profit and has no shareholders. A cursory glance at their accounts would reveal all

I hardly use any electricity, but walk past caravans with heaters ablaze in their awnings.

Maybe the CAMC needs a new business model. I'd love to see some non-electric pitches.
They do have eco pitches on some sites
