CAMC CHARGES

I thought this a “club” not a commercial enterprise!

As I understand we have representatives from each region on the committee if we have why are they not voting against these very prices.!!
There are lots of layers to the Club. If you or anyone else feels aggrieved by anything you are quite welcome to attend and meetings of the regional councils and say your piece. Asking the question on here will not get it changed.

Not at the CAMC rate you can't and you cannot join in on the rally activities.
They put together a very comprehensive package of ferries and three sites that saved me a massive amount of time and effort. To be fair to them they were very easy to talk to and very slick.
For all that the membership fees are worth it but we are avoiding their sites in favour of ccc and independents.
They’re just acting as commercial travel agents taking a cut as middlemen - who needs them?

Bill. That is a bit nieve. One site, Alannia Costa Blanca will deal with anyone, but to get a discount you need to approach them with numbers and paperwork. After 2020 Covid year when CCC pulled out we tried. They made some noises but were not interested in dealing with an informal group. CAMC took the rally on board and negotiated will aid from the rallies.
You take a group of 200 vans onto a site what backup and insurance have you got. Diddy squat. CAMC have a rate of around €20 a night plus electric. Normal rate is between €50 & €60.

I’m sure they’re very grateful for your business - premium price and annual subscription.
Do not pay them, or the other lot CCC. You can go through life by yourself and blame them all for everything you do not like. But when the Clubs manage to get concessions from Government and the likes I hope you will be big enough to turn them down.

Ok, I get that. If you’re into rallies then I can see the benefits of membership. Not my bag though.

What concessions would that be then? Actually I’m generally ok with the other lot, age concession rates is a proper concession not like something & nothing as spun by CAMC in its ‘offers’.

They have not happened yet. But I know they have been instrumental in better warranty and guarantees from manufacturers and they and CCC are consulted on any new legislation.
That would be great if the CAMC understood motorhomers, but they don’t have a clue.

They are primarily a caravan club. The others are a camping club. There is not really a motorhome club.

Previous to owning a motorhome I have a caravan for 25 years. For the life of me I cannot hand on heart see a great deal of difference. We all want to go out in our outfits, meet up with our mates and have a few beers. I am not sure what else there is to understand.

to this day I have no idea how or why but our last trip to Europe P&O wanted £1000 return Hull - Zeebrugge, inc cabin upgrades, CMC booked exactly the same crossing £560

That’s 10 years membership paid for
Let’s face it, there’s always going to be plenty of discount on prices marked up by 100% or whatever for those who put the effort in. Question is, could you have got it for £550 or less instead?

If you’re not interested in this thread or topic then I suggest you just ignore it rather than make rude comments.
Would rather appreciate it if you were the one to ignore the thread, you just keep repeating yourself like the proverbial stick record

Yes, niche. This is the first winter we are doing Spain for a couple of months. Those who are experienced can do it themselves. We can’t yet.
The deals that were done in the past are not there now. Staying on a site for 6 months have gone for a burton. A lot is site did not survive Covid and others are fully booked up with other Europeans who stay longer.

After reading more comments on this thread, and especially the "you can get a hotel (Premier Inn) for that" I thought I'd check.

My booking at York Rowntree Park, Friday 24th November, 2 adults for 3 nights, £115.90, paid only the deposit with balance on arrival and refundable until 3rd November if we change our mind.

Premier Inn, again city centre location, Blossom St South, 2 adults 3 nights, cheapest rate, cheapest room, £454 paid in full, non refundable, plus, I'd then have to pay to park a car that I used to get there.

I'm quite happy with the CAMC price

Fur coat and no knickers!! Look at me I have a £100K motorhome but I have no money to park it in a site so I prefer to sleep in car parks and poop in McDonalds.
It has been said time and time before.. It has nothing to do with costs.

Some don't particularly like sites.. others, like me want value for money..

£35-£40 a night will never be value for money on a camp site... Certainly not in the UK.

As always, it depends what you want as to what you are willing to pay.

I know people who take their caravan away once a year and stay on a huge site, with onsite bars and entertainment, where there is plenty to keep their kids entertained etc. Bingo every night, live bands and singers etc. Of course, they pay a nightly fee that covers all of this. It is definitely not my sort of thing but there is obviously a market for it and those same people would probably not like CLs.

In the same way there are people whom are happy to pay CAMC prices as they obviously consider them value for money, I know people who regularly stay on their sites and again won't consider CLs.

None of us is "wrong", we just want different things when we stay and regard different amounts as value for money.

And £100k + for an motorhome is value for money? Everyone is in the money grabbing market and the leisure market is one of the worst. Look at flight and other holiday costs this week because of school holidays. The clubs are a business and while people pay they will charge. I personally like the security of a site and the facilities. I do t want bricks thrown through the windows or paint and brake fluid thrown all over my motorhome because I parked in a car park overnight. If you have a motorhome or caravan you should have budgeted this into the running and usage costs of owning the vehicle. I watch the YouTube videos of those van lifers who use Park for a Night and that’s not a leisurely life by any means. I would rather go away every second weekend and pay for a CL or independent site than take the risk. Everyone to their own I suppose.

And where are the regional council meetings advertised? Never seen one for my area.

50-60 Euro's....How Much!

The impression I get from others on here, Spain is supposed to be cheap?
Not visited Spain much, so what do I know? 🤔
