Did you have the water pump changed at the same time

Yes water pump included, some kits are just the cambelt but my ducatto was the complete kit cambelt, tensioner, water pump, and it was original fiat kit as well.

£495 bearing in mind I wanted the fiat kit not some cheaper one , that price was supply and fit .
Nice price, but I'm not sure Fiat manufacturer the belts and pullies or even the water pump.

Oem fitted parts , not saying there's anything wrong with other makes but wanted same as original parts van is low mileage, but five years old so better safe than sorry and a lot cheaper than a new engine

Replaced mine a couple of weeks ago. Factory fitted parts were all Dayco. New "Fiat" parts were all Dayco.

Water pump and cambelt changed as part of the deal for our new [to us] 5 year old m/home bought on Wednesday with 8760 miles on the clock. Since then we've added a further 15 miles! 'Today Fife; tomorrow a wee bit further in Fife ...' ;)

Having our Audi A4 done at main dealers £740 but warranties for two years.

Coastal Motorhomes do the Dayco kit for £173, that's over £100 cheaper than the same kit from FIAT. The only difference is the box and a FIAT logo stamped on the belt.

Hi Steve, I see from your other post you also bought your Burstner from Pullingers in Halstead,
We to bought our new to us Burstner motorhome from Pullingers and very pleased with their service and aftersales, and love the Burstner.
At the time we also had a new cambelt fitted as part of the purchase deal.
However 3 years ( 1 of which in lockdown) and 8000 miles later it has been transported to their preferred garage who performed the above work for a suspected Cambelt failure, as advised by the breakdown technician
Currently /today engine being stripped for investigation, now waiting to hear the outcome.
Obviously not very happy if it is a cambelt failure after only 8000 miles.

Hi Mike & Kim

Sorry to hear about the Cambelt failure. I hope that the work was actually done [both on yours and our m/home] rather than just stamping the Service Record ... Did you have the Water Pump replaced as well as the Cambelt? I understand that a Water Pump failure causes the same damage and our VW Car Dealership 'beat me to the punch' by suggesting that they changed Tig's Pump & Belt for an extra £50 [£545 v. £495],since it involved only undoing 2 bolts in the same area of the cambelt, fitting the pump and 2 bolts back in again.

We're waiting on the Fridge Replacement Control Panel to deal with an intermittent 12v Fault [Indy Engineer highlighted a broken lower fridge vent so previous owner checked for blown fuse?] but Pullingers will post the Panel to us and we'll ask a local Dometic Approved Installer [recommended by GellyNeck!] to do the installation and check to see if there needs to be a new 12v supply cable installed [as reported on another Fridge Failure Post elsewhere].

Solar Panel installation [Purchase Deal work] seems messy, relying on an App to monitor the performance. The App cannot pick up the Vehicle Battery Charge [EBL limitations?] so we'll try to find a local Engineer [or visit Eddy Vanbitz!] to get a physical Monitoring Gauge fitted and a better Controller set up. The cost of the work would be about the same as the cost of diesel for a return trip to Essex from Scotland, and a revised set up will provide peace of mind!

Then it's 4 new tyres [April 15 so age not wear problems], me reading Pioneer Manual to find why Display Screen not firing up consistently so sometimes we have a reversing camera, other times, we're on our own! [problem only started when Pullingers suggested killing the Battery via the EBL switch and then switching it back on again to stop the Fridge hissy fits because of the duff Control Panel]...

So much for the Glossy Brochure image of pair of Old Gits driving off into the sunset for the carefree motorhome life! :ROFLMAO: Life is a Challenge and it would seem that I have failed the practical exam; just waiting for a resit date ...

Good Luck!

Hi Steve,
Heard yesterday that it was the Cambelt had slipped, it has been reset and tested and very fortunate that no engine damage has occurred.
The cause apparently is due to the belt sticking and hence slipping when attempting to start.
Possible causes are inactivity, or frozen due water ingress (have since googled the frozen cause and is a known problem stemming from the skuttle leaking).
Now waiting for new belt plus tensioners etc plus water pump to be fitted.
Obviously not happy but VERY relieved no additional damage caused
Hope you get your issues sorted, you will love the Burstner, very good build quality.
We will all soon forget any problems once we are all back on the road again.

Hi Mike & Kim,

Delighted that your problem seems to have been so, ahem, 'gentle'! As you say, 'relieved', thinking of what might have been!

Yesterday was a fun day for us! Decided no to waste a day waiting for the new Fridge Control Panel to be fitted, so decided to trace the reason for losing the view via the reversing camera; seems that knocking off the 12v supply at the EBL99 causes the Pioneer to have a mild hissy fit and to lose its settings, including turning the camera view to 'Off'. So far, so good; restored 12v, but this caused Fridge to cop a strop again, so killed the EBL switch [nursery rhyme 'swallowed a spider that wriggled and wriggled inside her ... etc' springs to mind  and reset Pioneer again. As I stood up from having my head buried beneath the passenger seat, I turned round and smacked my head against the drop down bed, and said 'Gosh, that stung somewhat', but in terser language. I had lowered the bed slightly to let air flow more easily over the bedding until we were ready for a trip away. Decided to raise the bed to avoid another collision; no power to bed! RTFM time and cranked bed down manually, looking for the elusive Panel that contained the Bed Motor [Manual says it could be virtually anywhere!].

The first orifice was only the opening for the manual winder, but then opened the passenger side middle window and found the Access Panel, which had never been used since the Van was made ... Fuses perfect, but still no power, so phoned Pullingers, where Scott spent 35 minutes asking me to try various fuses etc, all OK, so removed them again and reinserted them, giving each one a wee wriggle, killed the EBL again, reinstated it, and then switched 12v on and off again at the Control Panel [Fridge hissy fit Take 3], killed the EBL and restarted it, by which time the bed had become bored with the entire proceedings, because, when I turned the bed key to on, and the 12v on at the Control Panel, the bed moved via the motor again!

The bed episode took over 2 hours from start to finish, drove my blood pressure way too high [Cardiology Clinic Appointment tomorrow afternoon!], and achieved absolutely nothing, save that we now know how the bed works, and where to start looking if there is a problem in the future! Same with the Pioneer! The latter looks never to have been used [rc still in sealed plastic wrapper with battery protector intact]. The SD Card isn't registering, but it seems that the engine has to be running to initialise the system, so I'll leave that until the Fridge Control Panel has been safely installed, otherwise I shall have at least one more repeat of yesterday to contend with ... And, as Elaine calmly and wryly observed at the end of these shenanigans, 'Stephen [Sunday name], we didn't buy Brunhilde to establish a brothel, so please don't refer to it in terms that suggest that was the reason for the purchase ...' As we say in Scotland, 'That's me telt, then'(y)

One day, we'll look back at this and laugh. But not today, nor tomorrow ... Perhaps when we make our first overnight stay trip. Scotland reopens tomorrow and Elaine and I are to receive our 2nd COVID Jags [Scots term] on Thursday, so the world will become our Oyster Card; outmoded and superseded ...

Cheers.

Steve & Elaine
