I am currently getting quotes for cam belt replacement on my Pilote G600 A Class motorhome. It is just coming up to 5 years old (34000 miles) is there a need to get water pump replaced a same time

If its cam belt driven its advisable.
If it fails after having the belt changed you'll get the same bill again to change the pump.
Just as much work to change either so worth it at the same time.

Generally always replaced together as same bits need to be removed, so helps to prevent double labour costs. Pumps can and do fail at similar intervals.

Ours (2014 2.3 150hp) was done last year at under 20000 miles and Fiat said the full kit was needed including water pump, tensioner and belts.
Our garage, a local Fiat Professional commercial garage were just going to replace the belt until they checked with Fiat.

We travelled down from Glasgow to get our cambelt done by dave newell lvs in Telford (well, we were touring in the area at the time) who is a trade member on here.
He replaced belt, tensioners and water pump. As PJ says, the additional cost to get it done at same time is minor.

It should be a 4 hour job so £200+ in labour. Could be more on an A class.
Plus belt kit and water pump £700 local garage ballpark figure - Fiat garage £1500

Need to say what engine fitted as to whether pump needs replacing at the same time.

Had ours done at a Fiat Professional garage and it was £1040 including full service and MOT, on an A class, full Fiat kit.
