On my year 2001 6000SL, the silver strip whish runs around the front of the overcab, and then extends along both side of the sidewalls above the windows, IS covering a joint in the body structure.
Suggestion:
Carefully dig out all the old filer/sealer that you can along the top edge of that silver coverstrip that you can using small scraper/screwdrivers, clean thoroughly, and apply a new bead of new Sikaflex or similar sealant all the way round (NOT silicone sealant, as that always starts leaking soon).

Also, make absolutely sure that the rooflight above the luton overcab area is not leaking at all....take the 2 parts of the inside-MH assembly off (it's just a few screws), and double-check that all the black non-setting sealant holding the above-roof part and sealing the gap between outer roof and inner ceiling is sound........it is possible for moisture to come in from between roof and the top part, and then seep into the layer between roof and interior ceiling, and then make it's way across above the interior ceiling and then down between outer and inner walls till it gets to the wall joint.
