Got 3 Quince Trees, One very mature, her indoors makes Jam,if the Birds miss some of the Buds, the birds are spoilt as got 3 Mature Morello Cherry Trees that the Birds strip every Year, Blackbirds seem to Love Cherries...What do you do with your apples I have two trees get about 30 apples of both trees and then feed them to the birds over winter.
My dad is the bird man of the village. Feeds the birds 3 or 4 times a day. Pheasants are his favourite. Sticks his head out the door at any time of day and gives a shout and about 30 arrive from the hedgerow in seconds. The local shoot must wonder where all of their quarry have gone. They have become so tame that they will happily walk into the house. We keep an acre of grass long so that they can nest quite close to the house safe from foxes, gulls and corvids. Every year the hens seem to parade their chicks off to dad to say thank you.

Lesser Redpoll on the bottom perch and Goldfinch on top.
Think this is the first year we have had them in the garden, loads of Goldfinches though and a few bullfinches, we have a barn owl that quarters the field behind us early morning and dusk and it lovely to sneak down and watch it, till the blo---y magpies come and bomb it anyway.Love the Redpolls Martin..don’t get to many down this way, just now and again we run into them.
