It would make sure sense to put them through the drains - keep all the crap in the same place

It was trialled about 15 years ago. Dubbed 'shitnet'. A robot ran down the pipes, using a spring-clip that popped out and tried to pin the fibre to the top of the pipe. I've not heard much about it since.

It would probably trap "solids" and cause blockages, whereas hopefully none of that in the rising main.

Openreach in Shrewsbury has paid local artists to decorate the roadside junction boxes, looks very nice, I'm hoping they're going to pay someone to sort the broadband speed out next - am I deluded
