Greetings All,

As a result of this nuisance of a Pandemic, BF have given some?/all? members of CV (Club Voyage,) an extension
of two months in addition to their current membership. In our case we were extended to the end of May.

As a result of this and the bl**dy crisis, I became aware that, at the end of one's membership, one had a further
three months to renew membership without losing membership. Also, as a result of there being a stop to
travelling to the Continent in the immediate future, there may have been a temptation to delay paying up until things became clearer.

I also discovered that if a member failed to continue their membership having given their code to friends and family,
they, (the receivers of the code) would lose their discount if the member of CV didn't renew at the time of travel.

I bring this to the attention of any Funsters who, having given their code and are hanging back for bets as far as the
Covid19 is concerned, leave their mates in the doo doo with unexpected extra dosh to pay.

Stay safe everyone.

There shouldn’t be a problem as long as people don’t panic as there are so many of us with membership and I can’t imagine all of us will fail to renew. You can add it retrospectively if you suddenly get asked for more money.

My BF CV membership runs out next month, I've got two fully paid up tickets that are half booked, one for 28th June , which I am still hoping to travel on, the other in late September. I also have deposit paid return trip shuffled out to November. It's going to be while before we get sorted I have refunds due on two tickets..... Let's hope their internal systems can cope.

Carolyn,
Pardon if your post has confused me but I think you've got the wrong end of the stick.
I'm not referring to the CV member losing money. I'm talking about the peeps who have been given the code.

In my particular case there were two people I had dished out the code to who had bookings for July and August.
I could have delayed my payment to BF until the end of August, but, had I done so, those peeps would have been given an additional bill of 10% of their fare, probably on arrival at the port because I was, at that time, not a fee paying member.

kidding me Mike, I got £50 last year

Was that on top of your Membership fee? You have seemed somewhat 'proactive' in the matter of offering your CV No. this year.(y)

No I haven’t got the wrong end of the stick at all. If the code is no longer valid at the time of travel of the friends and family member who has used your code then they will owe more, or any time for that matter. They will need to quickly post on here requesting another code, someone will respond within minutes and the new code can be applied. It could expire at anytime, it’s nothing new, Brittany ferries will soon let you know if you owe more. It’s a gamble people take when you stretch the friends and families rule!

Please correct me if I am wrong but what you appear to be saying is that CV membership will expire on the usual date and no longer be valid, the time extension relates only to the time allowed for renewal without application of the joining fee.

In a word, "Yes"

This is what I was told when I wrote the following to BF.

"Today I received an Email from BF advising me that my Club Voyage Membership has expired. (Thank you)

I appreciate that I have three months in which to renew my membership.

I note that three bookings have been made by my friends going forward, and further,
two of the bookings are for the intervening period of three months when I may (will!) renew my membership.

Could you please advise me as to what will happen should I not renew before, those two
bookings actually travel but then I subsequently pay my membership fee.

I would not wish my friends to be disadvantaged, even temporarily, because I failed to renew
before their travel dates.

Thank you for your understanding ."

BF's response,

"
Thank you for your email regarding your Club Voyage membership with Brittany Ferries.

Your membership will need to be valid for all bookings due to travel, so if this is not renewed before the travel dates for your friends then the discount will be removed and they will need to pay the excess amount."

The above makes it clear that, if a member of CV doea not renew membership immediately and before that membership IS renewed there are recepients of a CV F&F code, that code will not be accepted and the friend will lose their discount.

Hi Carolyn,

I apologise for not understanding your original post.

I’ve a feeling change is looming with CDV

I fear you may be correct, at the moment it is only renewable by phone.

I had a message from a user of my code saying that they would have to pay extra if I did not renew, I logged in to find that mine runs out in August and saw that it must be by telephone, I will be renewing mine.

Eurotrotters - I would like please if possible to use your brittany ferries code. Let's help each other !
Thanks
Phil.

My BF voyager club membership was originally due February 2021, it was extended by approx 3 or 4 months. It has now been extended to November 2021. This membership renewal, will then have to be paid at that time, as I understand it, to retain our given discount for Our crossing to Spain is April 22.

Hi, would anyone be kind enough to send me a code? It’s a win win anyway isn’t it? :giggle:

Oops sorry, didn’t realise this in not allowed. Sorry
