Brit Stops price increase

Bound to be one.
I have noticed a lot of advertising on my news pages, never seen any before.
Yes, I've noticed some rather slick marketing for BS recently

I've recently been inundated with advertising emails from BritStops having never received any previously. I bought the BritStops book a couple of years ago, but never bothered renewing, so presume my email address has been passed on to the new owners. The quantity of emails is in danger of becoming spam-like. Not the best way to endear themselves to potential customers.

Yep I've noticed exactly the same - its very annoying. I thought I'd already unsubscribed but maybe I didn't get around to it, so I've just done it again.

Here's the price increase in the latest email

Since my last post less than an hour ago, I've just received yet another BritStops email. I've now unsubscribed too.

I clicked on the link re "new perks" or whatever it said: all I got was a standard "aren't we wonderful" page.
Disappointing!

Harvest Hosts the new owners are employing the original owners son to manage things in UK. HH have a great reputation in the US with many of their pitches on Farms, Vineyards and Farm Shops, I hope they target these sorts of location in UK to expand, as we are not big pub visitors.

Get your orders in before May1st when BS price rise comes in.
I bought the book in 2022 and never used it once. Its so easy to find pubs that let you stayover. there are zillions on S4S and we have often just turned up at pubs as we'd drive along, gone in and asked and been told no problem.

Strange, I have this years book and app NO MARKETING , would be interesting if your concerned about contacting them and asking about data protection as details should be deleted after some time

I like Britstops it helps me to know I have somewhere to go

I've been a subscriber for a few years, sure I only pay £28 a year, but the only emails I receive are the monthly updates - and, it'll have to become really something special to justify the price increase since most of the stops (not all I appreciate) are also available on search for sites and park4night type sites with no subscription fee's

Same we bought the guide in 2020 but never used it due to COVID. If they can add more destinations that aren’t pubs then would be interested in renewing.

Yes - popping up on my facebook constantly. We had it last year but decided not to renew. 1. We didn't use it much. 2. We've got the book now so plenty of venues to use anyway.

Currently a 15% discount code SAVE15 for new customers for anyone considering Brit Stops to help offset the price increase.

We've subscribed for the last 3 years and have only used it a couple of times, I won't be renewing next year as you say if you ring a pub up they always tend to let you stay anyway.
It would be of a lot more interest if other type of locations were available that were'nt listed elsewhere.

We had it for a year & never used it but can see that it suits some & agree that non pub locations is the way to go & is what would tempt us back.

It's a flaw in the business model. I don't imagine the pubs listed are restricted to Brit stop members only so th landlord would be silly to refuse a potential customer.

Also, as a previous Britstops member I have last year's book. The new year may have me additions but there is still plenty to be using. I reckon Britstops should just go down the app route as that would make people re subscribe. Of course once you have the app you could note down the locations younare interested in.

I don't like using pub stops as I spend too much money there. A campsite and a takeaway or home cooking would be cheaper.

I didn’t bother renewing either, it’s a pointless scheme bearing in mind there are other cheaper ways to find overnight stops and one can simply ask a venue by telephoning to get agreement to stay.

I’ve had a fair few emails and ads pop up. We bought it one year and didn’t use it …. Not tempted again

I bought/joined Britstops in 2017 when we first bought our Moho.

The first place we tried turned us away even though I phoned ahead, never bothered since then.

I agree you dont need it. We used a few stopovers 2022 and no one ever asked for proof of purchase. And the app never worked, I could never login despite contacting them to reset it.

Yup.I'm quite a fan and happy to pay a certain amount for someone to have done the leg work but with so much available online there is a limit and they are starting to push it

I’ve enjoyed stopping at vineyards, through Britstops. It was worth the subscription just for that.

Yep , found that we had as much success with the apps as we did with BS, it really does question why pay the fee
On my iPhone 13 the map often won’t let me click the location dot
But we also had a couple of nice country pubs as well
The one thing it needs for me is a feed back section

I'm sure I only paid less than £30 a couple of years ago - without any discount.
