Just pulled on to a nice Aire at Puerto Lapice and have left oil all over the new concrete another expence. Breakdown man coming back tomorrow with a bigger truck to take us to a garage

That's really kind, thanks, but worse scenario our breakdown cover will provide a car.
Mechanic came out yesterday and initially said engine knackered but then thankfully changed to pipe broken or come loose but fetching us today and taking to a garage to put on ramp, so fingers crossed.
We've just left Almeria area shame we didn't know you were there been good to have met up

In hotel now somewhere new parts have to be ordered tomorrow so don't know anything now till morning posh hotel though

Thanks, been put in a hotel for tonight and hoping they can get the parts tomorrow as we're booked on ferry on Wednesday

I do hope your ferry is from Bilbao or Santander as the channel ports are too far away from where you are - south of Madrid.

Glad your mobile, did they explain what had gone wrong to give other owners a heads up?

Yeah the mechanic showed us did'nt look good oil all over the engine some pulley started to wobble which caused the seal to go and this pulley made a grove in this plate so 3new parts.
Not good for 25000 miles

Mine, same year as Brian's, broke its flywheel at 22k miles, then for a grand finale after being repatriated burnt its exhaust gas re-circulation valve out. I thought Ford engines were supposed to be good!!

Cam shaft pulley came loose, resulting in oil seal leaking and the plate they fit onto getting badly grooved, from what we can understand of the Spanish mechanic

Yes got on our way at 7pm last night and now at Santander, Brian is cleaning the oil off the van and I'm sitting in the cafe with a large white wine, good result
