Well I’m on an aire near Limoges and about to fill up with water. In over twentY years of MH’ing never filled up with water from a Bourne with Jetons 😱. Where do you get the Jetons from....there no office or anyone hear.

Is there not a notice to say where you get them from, if not usually it's the Marie, tabac, Boulanger or bar. Hope that helps, we don't usually pay for water but always carry a jeton incase.

The problem is that there are different 'jetons' ... soeven if you have one, it might not be the right one at that particular service point.

We keep a small selection in an old purse in the glove box. Rarely need them but handy 'just in case. Replace any that get used. 👍

Is there not a cemetary nearby ? (y)

Normally with a queue of French motorhomes filling up with free water !

Well that should be safe water as all the microbes should be dead.

Like Mister B said , several different types / shapes of Jeton , as I found out many years ago back 2007 , bought 3 from the local bar , used one still got the other 2 never found anywhere to use them ( so must go back to Turquant one day to use them)
The euro-relais ones as quite common I always keep a couple of those handy.

Often the apps or aire info websites will give info on where to source.

You have led a sheltered life, until the more recent introduction of card machines Jetons were the norm.

Normally from the Marie, also often the local Tabac or Boulangerie have them, they sometimes have a sign in the window.
Well I’ll be blowed...I never knew...

I’m beginning to wonder if I’ve done the right thing....NO Brits in The Dordogne in August...it’s lovely...very quiet....

Crumbs. You lot are one track minded. :(

Thanks Nanniemate for informing me re the tokens. I guess the answer is to go in a convoy the first time you go abroad.

Movan if you want to come with me your welcome, no planning just book a boat and go. Got a map and guide books and lots of places that take your fancy on route to nowhere. (don't do satnav) all you need to know is thankyou and please in as many languages as possible, and carry some good phase books and have a sense on humour.

I did say that I would not take this van over the water as she was too old but hey why not I have breakdown cover and a credit card to fly home if the worse happens

And if you want practice getting on and off a boat we can start with the Isle of Wright
