Been doing it since I was an apprentice. Really easy and painless, need more donors as everytime I go full of oldies like me

Usually a good age spread when I go to Southmead, but only about 8 or 10 in the room at any one time.

Blimey, you just reminded me......I was a youngster when I started.

Us: "CO wants us to sort some stuff out with him."
CSM: "B*ll*cks, he's been in UK on a fortnight's leave for the last couple of days. Report to the BMH at 1400hrs."
Us: "What for?"
CSM: "Just do it!"

That was Pint No 1.

Given around 110 donations.At 75 donations was invited to a reception where the guest speaker was a recipient with a life saving operation.Was very moving and made everything worthwhile.

I too was a regular donor until I received a blood transfusion after surgery. At that time I was stopped from donating because of the risk of ‘mad cow’ disease - I kid you not. I can’t spell the correct name!!

Yes that stops you in the UK & here in spain you have to have lived outside the UK for 15 years before they will allow donations. Wife is not allowed due to having had cancer.

I wanted to but never understood why they didn't have evening and weekend sessions, I couldn't do workdays as I never knew where I would be until I got my run sheet email the evening before, when I retired I thought now I can do it, but now I'm too old

Ìf you got to 100 you get a nice quake (Scotland) if you want one
Not that we need anymore clutter

If you bare an existing doner you can carry on but they wouldn't let me begin at age 65 when I applied

Like many, I've been a donor for many years, but a little tip for those doing it for the first time:

Make sure when you get the 'pin prick' on the finger, it isn't the finger you use for fingerprint recognition when unlocking your phone!

Was a long time blood and plasma donor, up until recently when a minor stroke and age meant I was no longer eligible.

The forms before donation always made me smile, who owns up to the questions regarding Sex in Africa, sex which druggy’s, sex for money,etc.etc.

But if you can donate it’s good to do it.

I had to tick 'yes' for Africa ... metaphoric sirens went off, curtains were drawn and I was asked by an earnest and deeply concerned nurse to explain the circumstances.

'I was there with the Missus, she's from Wigan'.

Having checked, there are 3 medical reasons why I am excluded now.
