I'm a bit of an internet computer dinosaur but I'd quite like to keep a sort of blog of my upcoming travels to Europe

What's the best way of doing that ?

By blog I don't just mean a thread on here as id like to create one that friends and family can follow too

hazel and I used wordpress for our travels this year very good and free.......just google wordpress and away you go

I have set up a blog for my trip next year, mostly for friends and family to follow my travels.
I have used Blogger.com, to start with I struggled to set it up but youtube tutorials were invaluable and it actually looks quite professional now. All free too.
Wordpress is another provider and I`m sure there are tutorials for them too.
If you go to Ourtour.co.uk Jason and Julie did a write up on starting a blog.
Their blog is excellent and one to aspire to.

Hi, this is a link to some information regarding blogging.

YouTube has some excellent tutorials on how to set up a blog.
Best of luck.

Merry Xmas Norhernraider. We used Wordpress this year on a 7 week mini adventure. Worked for us to keep family and friends updated on our whereabouts. Great too for us to look at now we home and spur us on for next years adventure. If u get bored you can have a gander(better than turkey) on www.soupdragon.co.uk.

Oops ..... should read dearsoupdragon.co.uk. Sorry, may have had too much Lambrini!

If you just want to keep a record and let friends etc know what you are doing then a traditional blog will do the job. However, if you want input and interaction then a thread on here can't be beaten.

There are a few on here who have a blog then every now and then post they have updated it. TBH I rarely follow the link, partly because the structure of the usual type of blog - reverse order and grouped by month - makes it harder to follow the journey from the start.

My suggestion would be to do it on here and ask friends to register, which is free. If they don't register they will only see images at thumbnail size. :)

I think Wordpress is excellent.
It is free, although you can have your own domain name and some extras for a small charge if you want to get really professional.
You can upload lots of photos and getting the look and layout you want is simple.

Best of luck with both blog and travels. If you want any help setting the blog up just shout.

Richard.
