Bladders too big for our boots

Contradicting yourself there surely
On one hand you cant see why someone would invest in a van with the onboard loo and not use it for intended purpose then you say your only using yours for half it's intended purpose??

As for using a bottle, you'll see that Ive said I use it to extend the cassettes time as we off grid almost all the time.

I reserve the right to be contradictory on every other day ;)

Another obvious reason - to me anyway - is that some double beds require one person to actually climb over the other person in order to access the Loo. A conveniently placed bottle avoids that problem.

This I understand completely. We’ve just sold our van with a transverse bed for that very reason. Well, that was one of the reasons. A bottle would have been far cheaper than a new van

With one of these you could last indefinitely.
At £10 for 5 bags, it makes it very expensive to "spend a penny" Even the loos at Amsterdam station aren't that dear. I extend our cassette duration with a 2.5L 'Surf Washing Liquid' bottle. Nice wide neck and a screw top. Fairly discrete to visit a public loo to empty as well.

I found these a more convenient size - and aptly named too. Also has a wide enough neck (just).View attachment 1070307
Fatmrg has just bought two of these, and like the kid in the Fairy Liquid ad, is waiting not so patiently for one to be emptied. Never had so much washing done in my life....

I'm a big fan of the nocturnal pee bottle.

You can get those large water bottles people use in gyms which tend to have a wide opening, hold a couple of litres and for some reason are often tinted black which makes walking around with a bottle full of pee a little bit less obvious.

There's normally somewhere you can take them to empty them during the day and that extends the time before needing to empty the toilet enormously.
We do this as well. It also helps with the smell as it seems to be the urine that makes the cassette smell.

In addition, the toilet paper goes in a dog poo bag in a bin and the bag is put in a litter bin every day, and we use public toilets whenever one is available. The two of us can easily make the cassette last a week with that system — it's the urine that fills the cassette up quickly.

Likewise we use a spray bottle and 1 cassette lasts us (2 of us) 3 days.
We have a large aluminium storage box on the back of the motorhome and carry a spare cassette in there so we can go 6 days before emptying.
I have also been known to pee in a 4 pint plastic milk container which extends the need to empty each cassette by at least a day.
I seem to pee a lot and found that I use more water to flush than I pee so now I pee in a bottle ( with a large neck);)

Buy this, use it each time you empty your cassette. When its empty, fill it up with a liquid of your choice and convenience 😉
Notice the extra wide opening and the extended time your cassette will last.

Honestly, why don't y'all go the whole hog and stick a catheter in at night connected to a night bag.

You don't even have to get up.

Just make sure the bag is lower than your kidneys!

You can probably get a t-piece and have one between the two of you.

👀👀👀😁

Be aware of flushing. I’m sure my wife flushes more water into the cassette than she pisses.
I have the same issue, I have to empty the toilet cassette once a day and I'm sure it's the same problem as Fatmrsgeorge and I carry a spare cassette, just in case.
And I use the pink squirty method as well, especially at night.

Just another tip we have found, buy the cheapest own brand supermarket toilet roll you can find, we use Tesco but others the same , you will find it goes to nothing in the cassette.
You need bigger boots😬

Instead of flushing every time, buy some pink caravan toilet cleaner (1ltr container) then decant some into a spray bottle and spray the bowl after each use. We use this instead of flushing and it keeps the toilet smelling sweet. Result 4 to 5 day emptying cycle.
Same here.

Well, as we’re talking ‘prostates’, I had mine examined today:oops: - afterwards I said ‘well, that was fun….’; the consultant replied ‘and I didn’t even have to buy you a drink….!’
Laugh, I almost smiled (through gritted teeth!);), but great that he had a sense of humour too👍.

Turns out that I need a TURP (look it up, and it’s not short for ‘turpentine’), so I’m booked-in for 14th July…….
I can’t wait………

Not sure what age you are AndyPK I had my prostate shrunk last year using a procedure called REZUM, none of the side effects from other procedures which is why my Urologist recommended it as I’m only 57.
