Just started getting black plastic smelling smoke from C2002 Truma vent. Has anyone successfully de-coked vent pipe or is it a boiler removal job?

Have you established what your Truma is melting to give you the smell of burning plastic?

I doubt the flue would need decoking if the boiler is running correctly.
I'd stop using it until you can identify the fault.

I don’t think it’s actually burning any plastic , there’s nothing near it to get that hot. Also the smell would be inside as well?

Our boiler smells of a burning plastic when on gas 60 degrees.
No smell on electric or 40 degrees.
Many years ago I had a Hymer with the same problem and asked at a Truma stand at the NEC and there representative said it wasn't a problem as they do get very hot on the higher setting. He said it would shut down if there was a overheat problem.

Thanks for your reply Kuskus, I think I’ll have a go at cleaning the flew pipe, however I don’t think it should be producing black soot in the quantity it is.

Our burning smell is very noticeable inside the van , no black soot from my flue pipe.
If you have black soot it sounds like a problem with the burner itself .

If you’re heater is producing soot deposits from the flue it’s probably the burner is starved of air, this can be caused by a few things, gas pressure at the burner to high, supply air vent partial blockage, flue pipe integrity compromised, to name a few. Make sure you have a working Carbon Monoxide Alarm.
And have this seen to by a competent person. Happy travels.

Thanks for all of your responses, the problem was the air intake going to the vent, new jubilee clip all sorted 👍
